Free Therapy: Why You Should Write a Book | Lucy Whichelo | TEDxMcGill
You don’t have to be a 5-star, New York Times best seller to reap the benefits of writing a book... you just have to write one. In this talk, Lucy Whichelo tells about how, from her experience, writing a book can help you develop curiosity, purpose, and confidence- in the same way therapy might- but for free! This talk was filmed and edited by TVM, Student Television at McGill.
Lucy is a Political Science, Communications and Sociology graduate from McGill University, and will be working in Toronto in Media and Public Affairs. She is also the debut author of “Unelectable: Making Space for a Future with Female Leaders''. Lucy published “Unelectable” in April 2021 and has since continued to engage herself and others in creating a more inclusive environment for women in leadership. In taking on her very first book-writing journey, Lucy gained invaluable knowledge about what it takes to write, market, and publish a book, and hopes that by sharing her experience she can encourage others to take up their own book-writing journeys. Lucy strongly believes in the power of writing and plans to persuade anyone who will listen that everyone can and should take up the journey of writing their own book. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I have been writing a memoir for over fifteen years. The information never changes, but the words I use to express the situation does according to mood. I really need help now putting an ending to it. It has helped me in so many ways.

if you can enlighten a person the most important to me in my life, about the significance of writing, and helping her get into this habit, by sharing your view on this matter with her.... and I'll be forever grateful. It'll be lovely if she starts, hearing the story of your memoir. Thank you for sharing a life experience, that resonated with me. 15 yrs, that is impressive. Must be very valuable to you, Tami. God bless

Thank you for your inspiration! I've been writing a book since last year but have been feeling defeated lately. Your talk is just what I needed to remind me why I began the book.
Thank you. I have been doubting I could write a book even though that’s what I really want to do. I really saw this at the right time.

I have a ton of admiration for you,. Good ideas are all around us, but to have followed through as you did is rare among us. That...and I would be scared to death to speak in front of people. Congratulations!

I think I'm gonna go write a book now. Ok, bye.
Great advice, but did I miss the part where writing a book is therapeutic? Being a better and more productive person is obviously a goal everyone should have, but I guess I'm not understanding the title of this video
So write (right) Lucy, write on.
Thank you! This is so encouraging! What program was this that helped you write and publish your own book?
Well said !

How hard is writing, u jst need to master English and spend some time reading good books then u can write ur own. Why writing is so overhyped... Its not that hard, stop making easy things look hard...try rocket making maybe

If it's matter of mastering English ,then write a book and see if it's simple as you think
