Man I was doing things so wrong for so long. I've been packing my bearing with grease and didn't even think about what the actual job of the bearing is. I could never a get an 1/8 of a turn free spinning it. Freaking enlightened! Thank you sir!!!!

I use to put each bearing in a fidget spinner to break them in. Btw. Hard on cash, they're the same dimension of bearings but a lot cheaper and tbh not really made for boards but if you're struggling financially 2 fidget spinners is 8 bearings.... Providing you buy the right ones and they are usually cheaper than the cheapest set of skate quality ones.

Anyone test this with empirical data? The fact that the bearing is able spin more freely shows that relative to it's own outer shell's very tiny inertia there is now less friction and therefore it looks like a win. But place an entire wheel on the bearing, or place a 150lb rider and the weight of a rider into the formula, and this very minor change in friction is likely unnoticeable. Please leave a link here, if anyone has an actual test of the gains made with a full bike.

I can’t believe anyone would actually publish a video like this for the whole world to see. I feel sorry for the kids that actually believe this stuff. They are already getting ripped off thinking they have to have the most expensive super duper ceramic Swiss bearings. Then when they get home they remove the seals and lubricant out of them and they only last a week. I’m sure the salesman’s say they’re the best but they don’t last as long as the cheaper bearings. Unbelievable that someone would demonstrate the speed of a dry non loaded bearing. Remember kids, the grease is what slows the bearings down. 🤣

@@mikehoncho5389 go kart racers do it all the time. Bearings are relatively cheap. Clean and lube every race and then toss and replace a few times a year. Ceramic also doesn’t heat up like steel. Although they are more expensive, there is a reason some Go kart chassis manufacturers went with ceramic bearings. Heat=friction=wear. Does the cost out weigh any benefit? I can’t say for sure. I guess it depends on what your intended goal is and what application it’s being used in. It’s all relative.

this would only make sense for someone who is racing and or willing to replace bearings extremely often this is NOT for most people this ill make your bike much more high maintenance bc if you do this you really have to pay attention to your bearings so they dont dry out. theres a reason we use grease not oil it keeps the bearings good way longer oil will naturally wear out faster because its thinner and will literally come out of the bearings faster.. get hot faster and wear out too.. IF your bearings go DRY while going down a hill and they WILL blow up and your wheel WILL stop turning..

Disclaimer: only do this if you have a track cycle or something that wont be exposed to the elements. If a little bit of dirt/sand gets in there it is going to grind the heck out of it and destroy your bearing. Also even if it no dirt/sand gets in there your lube has its purpose, to stop the bearing from wearing out quickly, this will also shorten your bearings lifespan by a huge margin.

Very nice video. If you use full grease in there as of maker's first charge, the community's recommended bearing life expectancy would be 3~6 month assuming everyday average hours of cyclist riding at usual outside road. But if you do it as in the video, its recommended life could be reduced tremendously which is couple of weeks 🤔 order of magnitude eventhough you re-oil after every riding of the same order above. Besides the video contents, manufacturer's initial production bearing clearance setting value, Bearing race ring thickness and materials of deflection factor after full weight load while riding, ball material kinds, inner ball casing varieties, etc. depending on our research all impacts their friction amount. If you want to discuss them, please let me know.

Yes, this trick won’t make you go faster on its own, but a wheel/bearing with less resistance allows you to accelerate quicker and easier, on top of being able to reach a higher top speed. With less resistance, it just makes it easier to go faster.
