I have always wanted a flight sim for the OV-10 because since I am in Southern California, I see a lot of these modified for CAL FIRE operations. Such a cute little plane

Lots of little things need to be corrected. To the guys who made the sim model, thank you. However, there are two distinct cockpit layouts on the OV-10A, USMC and USAF. The one shown here is the USAF version, with USMC paint. It has the engine fire detection/protection handles over the engine instrument stack. Also the USAF Bronco had ILS. The USMC didn't have either.

The OV-10 did put warheads on foreheads when needed. Primarily it was a FAC, but could do light CAS in a pinch.

Wow! I am blown away by the quality of this module! The dev team should be proud. I wonder if we will be able to carry cargo in the cargo bay. Paratroopers? Ammo crate? Stretchers?

the red quarter circles that pop up with the ailerons are indeed spoilers, specifically roll spoilers, which enhance the roll rate of the airplane, and it is mechanically linked to the ailerons

@@maxspace1272 - that can be a welcome side effect, but the primary purpose of the spoilers is for increasing the roll rate. it’s even mentioned in the flight manual.

the one in the mod appears to roll *very* slowly, I wonder if they modeled the spoilers properly

So, those spoilers rising up from the wing remove the lift from that wing. Wing drop, plane turn better. We need to check to see if the TACAN works

Last time I saw a Bronco in an air-to-air situation, it didn't end well for it.

Good video. Got it. Flew it. Strafed with it. Trouble with a couple things. Ok, about the following: binding to fire rockets, 2, open canopy, 3, tune UHF radio. Any info on those? How about reverse and feather? Really nice mod. Knew a some of guys on deployment with VMO-2 on Okinawa in 1984. Pilots. I was a KC-130 pilot. So on the Anubis C-130 I bound beta and reverse to the aft detent and aft stop respectively on my winwing orion. I can see it move some, but not getting to reverse. Thoughts? Thanks.

Got a tutorial on the rockets in the pipeline, but the binding is weapon release. It's under the "Bronco Armaments" category in the keybinds, IDK why. Haven't tried opening the canopy yet, but I believe the radio is nonfunctional at the moment, you can only use the easy communications menu as I understand it. Reverse throttle is a keybind and you just hold it down to keep the throttle reversed. No idea about feathering the props rn.

Couple of trivia questions: how unique was the Bronco in carrying AA missiles as a prop? Was it designed for Vietnam or did it have any projected role in a peer conflict/ central front West Germany?

Not totally unique. The A-29B carries IR AAMs too, though it is a newer aircraft. I think the idea behind the Sidewinders on the OV-10 was to have some sort of one-shot capability against say, enemy helicopters.

One of the best aircraft ever made. They'd be real useful in current wars, no idea why we don't still fly them.

We do, in low numbers. SOCOM used a few for very precise light attack sorties when combating ISIS from 2015 on.

Can anyone help me out? When I click on the link for Split-Air's Discord Server I get a blank page. It's the framework for a Discord server, but all of the buttons are blank.

How can I arm the sidewinders or rocket pods to the aircraft? All I see is the quad m60 mounted under the belly station.

There are switches for each pylon, located at the top of the instrument panel. The outer ones are the wing pylons with the AIM-9s, the inner ones are the belly pylons.

@@SpinosSimulations Mine comes missing all the load out/weapons under both wings and I dunno why despite I tried to get some help from SplitAir discord. The only weapons I got are the quad cannons under the belly station. Does your come already mounted or loaded?

I can fly through steel beams with no damage to the Bronco, will this be fixed in future iterations ? Thanks

That'll be up to the mod dev. I would imagine so, that's a damage model issue and I believe that was one of the things they were working on, but I might be wrong.

Wonderful Addition to DCS. This Incredible MOD is a Fantastic addition to DCS World, I saw early pictures of this MOD going back a few years ago. I was able to "Fly" this Awesome MOD just ONCE. The 2nd time I attempted to "Fly" the OV-10 DCS Mod it was DISABLED. Does ANYONE here know how to get the DCS Application to RECOGNIZE and allow the OV-10 Mod to RUN?

I haven't checked the OV-10 since the DCS 2.8 patch, it's possible it was broken somehow by the patch. I'll have to see.

Anyone having trouble accelerating once airborne? I rotate and get airbone at 100kts but with any load out above approx 10000lbs i struggle to accelerate once grad and flaps are retracted. It eventually slowly sinks and crashes. If I firewall the throttles I get engine failures. Am I missing something?

Make sure the propeller rpm is in the green (not 100% when moving), separate from torque, throttles will adjust torque and they should handle 100% just fine once you climb out, as a general rule keep things in the top of the green for sustained performance. Also check airport elevation, the higher the worse your performance will be. Turboprops are different to handle than jets or even warbirds. Once airborne don't immediately retract flaps, but retract gear. You may need to level off in ground effect and accelerate before you begin climb out. Retract flaps once you are around 105-110kts. This worked for me after I had the same issue at an airport over 5,000MSL. I was heavily loaded too. One thing you have to keep in mind with turbo props is that the speed you are going before you initiate a climb is more important and limiting than for, say, afterburning jets. If you start a climb going slow, the props will not do very well, but if you stay level and accelerate forward first up to a decent speed (around 150-160 IAS is great) you will then be able to hold a decent speed in climb at least if not accelerate in a shallow one. You will notice if you are flying it right that the torque will actually decrease with speed increase if you leave throttles at 100%.

Yup, spoilers. It was grounded by the USMC in 1984. Don’t know why. Cool bird.
