Awesome stuff. I do have to say that 3D Coat as a voxel-based sculpting software can punch holes and create very complex geometry unlike Zbrush. Now I'm learning to combine Houdini and 3D Coat for the best artistic result since I don't want to go full-on procedural route due to lack of knowledge and time constraints. Thank you for sharing this, super useful.

On 2:11:09 there is a mistake - you had to normalize both tangent and bitangent, then add them to each other and then normalize once more, without any mulconst. In that case it would be really only edge noise. But edge noise alone does not have much sense.

What version of Houdini are you using? I am in 19.0.383, and there is no option for Visualize Pieces to make them colored. Also my voronoifracture node has only 2 inputs, not 3

  • @malk6277

Maybe you use the Assemble SOP because the old Voronoi Fracture SOP doesn't create the name attribute by default? The newer one creates it.

  • @BillyViBritannia

29:35 are you sure the problem is there's no data? This sounds a little off to me. It rather feels like ISO value is an inclusive value of the densities(and above) that should be included in the surface, therefore at 0 you include the whole space to infinity which cannot be displayed.

@ 0:10:35 anti alias (flow) noise returns value between -0.5 and +0.5. Not -1 to +1. Saber seems to know a lot however was not able to explain things out in a clear and concise way unfortunately. Also this class was clearly not very well prepared. Sorry to complain a bit. It's free stuff I almost forgot.

@@8thlvlMage I'm pretty new to Houdini too but I messed around a bit with noise .... it's very easy to cause overlaps when you apply it to geo and you have to do a Geo => Volume => Geo conversion step to fix this anyway
