FREE BRIGGS & STRATTON 16HP OPPOSED TWIN WATERLOGGED STUCK VALVE RESTORATION REVIVAL REPAIR FIX

This is part 2 of my repair project on this opposed twin engine that i stripped off a craftsman lawn tractor curb alert trash find. There was no compression coming out of one cylinder. I removed the heads and found it had a stuck valve from extreme carbon buildup. I cleaned out the engine block and all related parts that were flooded by water and oil sludge. My next step is to rebuild a donated opposed twin nikki carb to fit onto this motor. Stay tuned for part 3.

@@ededwardson6074 i doubt it since this is my first stuck valve out of like 300 machines.

To get that stripped bolt out, one of three things, cut a groove into it with a cutter saw, and use a big slotted screwdriver, 2 heat it up with a torch, then use a pair of vice grips, 3 cut it off like you said and then take the manafold off and then heat it up and use a vise grip, for the valve, deisel fuel and marvel mystery oil, and keep working it.

Hit both surfaces of the head with a wire wheel on a air tool, lightly as to not damage the aluminum..... Great progress.... The Niki carb is a pain in the butt watch some videos and get familiar with the process of taking it apart as to not loose any tiny parts or springs.

This engine is an opposed twin, it’s a flathead, no valves to adjust. If its out of whack, you have to remove valves a grind then down

2 things please don't take offense. 1 yes you absolutely could have removed, and absolutely should have, the borked up intake bolt. Terrible practice to "leave it for the next guy, cause it won't come out easily" my man, take a torch to that fucker heat it up till it glows orange, let it cool down, then hit it with some PB blaster, grind a line through the head for a flathead and it'll come out. 2 your valve clearance is off badly, should have pulled the valves and adjusted them! Just because something is easier doesn't mean it's better. In fact if my valves were that bad I would have for sure pulled and cleaned them up at least. Rust remover is cheap compared to the cost of new valves. Not only that but if it's stuck the valve guide can be damaged doing this method and now you burn more oil, leading to: you guessed it! More carbon buildup. Go the safe route take more time and effort in the end the machine will last longer and function better!

No offense taken at all, this was one of my first videos ever where my knowledge was limited. 6 years later, I cringe at my older videos. But thanks for the comment!
