That's a very good explanation how how to set up your 4 link. When I was learning this stuff you had to seek out old timers who weren't competitively racing anymore and get them to share their pearls, and separate the chaff from the wheat. There are a few other considerations though. The position of the bars matter significantly for reasons other than just the antisquat geometry(side view instant centre vs anti squat line). The bottom bar should be as straight as you can practically get it as this is the link that actually drives the car forward. The straighter that bar, the smoother the launch will be and you'll have more power pushing the car forward. The top bar should be mounted as low as possible for similar reasons. The higher it is the more leverage it has on the axle and the more you'll experience negative effects from that. Film your launches from the side and analyze the video to see what is happening. There is an ideal amount of antisquat and more than that can cause wheelspin after the initial launch as you mentioned but it also wastes horsepower. In theory you should aim for 100% antisquat and then add as necessary to prevent spin on initial launch. You should also make sure everything else is working the way it should be, that your launches are even and straight, your shocks are dialed in both front and rear, front is very important as well. Spring rate is a big deal as well as your rear rate will be affecting the weight transfer by resisting it. You need very little spring for drag racing as your 4 link is doing so much of the work. I'm not sure what your spring rate is but I would expect it's at least 200lbs and you probably only need half that much in a car as light as a RX7. Keep up the good work and thanks for the vid!

Question about the bottom bar. Do you want the bar as level as possible with the ground? Or do you want the bar level with the chassis? For example, if your chassis has a 2 degree downward rake, do you want the bottom bar to also be at a 2 degree downward rake? Or do you want the bottom bar to be as flat as possible with the ground? Please let me know. Thanks.

I like to setup mine on cad software where I can setup a visual with the tires and the bar intersect point, I also plot the center of gravity along with the anti squat line. It really helps to visualize how the bars are pushing on the car and how the push point lifts or pushes down on the nose.

Love the way you explained the set up and very precise and attentions to detail. Thank you for providing the links and demonstrating how to use them. We have an 71 Chevelle A body and our upper adjustable arms don't run parallel with the car. They have an angle that runs toured the out board or out side of the car. Will this formula still work for us. We run 10.50 @125.5 mph with a 1.47 average 60 foot with good track prep leaving at 5000 on trans brake. When the weather gets hot and track prep sucks our 60 go to Shxxt. 1.56 for example. Our upper and lower bars are in stock location with 4 degrees of pinion angle. Any help getting us to improve and be more consistent with greasy track much appreciated.

Just wanted to make sure whoever followed this has this correction (great video!). Your Upper Link should also plumb from the centerline of the axis which would in-fact be a positive X value (not 0) to correct length of upper bar. This will become a dramatic figure once calculating a lot of droop or total suspension travel. Great video, awesome FB!

I did something weird with my car. I set the frame rails down on 2 jack stands to see where the car would balance evenly with all 4 wheels off the ground. The point at which the jack stands are to do this balance calculated to 51.5% weight on the nose. The 1/4 panels got a little buckled even with an 8 point roll bar when doing the balance but it went back to perfectly straight when she was back on all 4 wheels. Thank goodness. Now that I have that measurement I guess it will help with figuring out the anti squat line ?
