They are used to cut smaller branches normally. The chips are then used in stoves that use the biomass to heat rooms

In Eastern Europe many people burn wood chips in furnaces like coal.
Meterholzscheite gehen wohl eher nicht und das Holz sollte frisch, also nicht trocken sein, vermute ich mal.
what i see is a resulting wagon load of mess,,,,,tiny leaves and sticks,,,mixed in with your firewood,,,,why not cut off all that at the outset,,,,this way, leaves a pile of useless jiblets and leaves at the home front,,,another mess to clean up

Because the material is low quality, these automatic wood stoves require decent quality wood chips, branches with that many leaves on wood only give low quality wood chips not the best for an automatic system. These big chunkes are meant to be used in a regular stove.
