Frederick was a man who understood his fellow men and in some cruel twist of irony his father’s cruelty taught him empathy which lead him to being a king who thought on his people and in turn served them. He’s one of the rare good ones in terms of kings. Also hilariously during his reign he sought to make potatoes the staple food of his nation but the people weren’t taking to it. No matter what anyone did they wouldn’t plant nor buy the potatoes that Frederick had brought in. So the king got an idea. He planted a garden on his property full of regular potatoes that he branded ‘the king’s potatoes’ to make them sound extra good and special. He then told the guards that they were to let people steal and run with them and even accept bribes if offered but to allow them to take the potatoes somehow. As a result people stole the ‘king’s’ potatoes and planted them thinking they were somehow special quality whilst Frederick is sat playing them like fools. Man was on some 4D chess.

Again, Frederick the 2nd was the better king because he was not only a military genius but also the one who brought back science, music, and the arts into Prussia. His father laid the groundwork to make Prussia great, but it was his son who built the foundations of what would be Germany (excluding the Third Reich, he would've wanted nothing to do with that)

Except Frederick really did become king and lead an army. He actually started the trend of officers wearing the same uniform as enlisted because he cared nothing for decorating his uniform and the custom was no one could be more elaborately dressed than the commanding officer

Okay but the way you drew Fredrick The Great when he watched his maybe-lover die is genuinely heartbreaking to me. And still, Fredrick The Great became an amazing ruler despite the horrors he faced throughout his childhood. I think I’m starting to absolutely love this series don’t mind me 🤩

@@officalJesusChrist agreed. it’s important that we’ve softened in order to progress. Living in “crisis mode” all the time, as people do when constantly under threat, prevents progress. But I will point out that some people still have parents who are this bad. Not many who could get away with killing their lovers but that does still happen too. My father was a bloody monster. Not physically violent but plenty dangerous all the same. And I survived that. People still go through horrible things.
