Let’s not forget this company used to be called Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac but after this one company caused the whole 2008 housing collapse by granting mortgages at adjustable rates to people that couldn’t afford them they had to rename the company after filing for bankruptcy because all of the damage they did destroyed them along with GM, AIG, Bear Stearns and Lehman Bros. That’s who we are letting front run this idea. The same type of idea that lead to the 2008 Great Recession by the same company that caused the 2008 Grwat Recession. I cannot believe this is even being entertained.

I've said it for a couple years, RE is going to crash again. Wasn't sure it would have been as bad as 2008, but now I see many states are in worse shape than 08. This one could take 10 years to work its way out, the last one was 05 to 12 or so. This one could take longer. I remember you saying no big down turn a couple years ago, I said I beg to differ. The gov always get involved to Screw things up worse. Adding trillions in stimulus, massively higher taxes, massively higher insurance will crush the housing market again. I did very well selling in Fl in 06 at peak, now it's 60% higher, LMAO. One hurricane will destroy that market.

Hey, George! Are the MBS (that are created from bundled mortgages) given a senior claim on the houses they leverage ie: re-hypothecation? Senior even to the 1st position lender? And would these 2nd mtgs gum up the works by having a senior claim even in the presence of a 1st position private mtg that isn’t bundled with a mbs? I see lots of problems here! George… Great video! I knew someone back in 08 who was buying the seconds at foreclosure auction and holding it over the first’s head. He had a deal going with a local title company that would give him title searches for free then, after he made all this money, he retired to Costa Rica in 2011.

I once talked to someone who participated in foreclosure auctions. What I remember is that he told me second liens are worthless. If you buy them, you pay money for nothing. The first liens gets paid off first. leaving nothing for the second lien, so I don't understand your comment.

We have high equity because inflation drove the price up. If people withdraw equity AND values drop, some will find themselves underwater. It's spending frenzy is what drives up other items excluding home ownership (shelter is broader).

The hands down worst professor I ever encountered was teaching economics. He barely read the assigned textbook [but weaved some odd bits and pieces into assignments as most are forced to do on account of the textbook racket provides lists to schools at the 11th hour... AFTER lesson plans are drafted], taught from whatever book he first used in college [which was never cited or brought to any class] and of course the department... had a battery of tests that meshed with none of it. It seems the best way to pass that class was to NOT attend, but invest an hour each day reading textbooks from the 60's or 70's, or [like a certain blond who remains nameless] blow out the curve by * the professor. The insult of paying for such? Why I insist today that some universities really ought not be charging tuition, but paying damages. Needless to say, the economics reading I've done over the years, learned from, and enjoyed had zero to do with college - be it Friedman, Palyi, etc.

So pumping the bubble even bigger and living even more beyond means... Absolutely no responsibility... Just how well can all that end?

If you want to inflate away the debt then they need to support the new price structure and this will help do that

Yep the reverse mortgage is the best solution!, especially for those kids who were hoping for the "greatest wealth transfer" so they can own the family home. Its called a recession and soon to be a depression at this point, some people just haven't realised the good times are gone for most. Especially if you're an employee, some business owners can sell up and cash out but the rest of us. Our wealth is based on paper profits which we can't cash in unless we want to be homeless. Its now just a matter of grinding until your dead. Maybe the young can find away to stay at there parents and not participate in this madness.
