I’m not sure what the appropriate amount of time was for this comedy bit, but I think they went for the metric version. They doubled it and added 30 :)

Comic parody of extreme stage fright in a high-pressure competition, and the anxiety snowballing completely out of control. Notice how the "announcer" (all part of the joke) made a big deal about how many thousands of people were watching.

kevin church I have limited knowledge on every quartet, but most modern ones probably aren’t your choice. I’d say as far back as the 80’s is a good start. The Boston Common quartet is a good one I’d recommend

Some context would be nice. Did they waste their one entry with this nonsense or did they perform more than one song? I’m unfamiliar with the contest format. IMHO the opening bit with the pitch pipes dragged on far too long, but I get that they were overdoing it on purpose.

@@jhagestad as far as i can tell they've already won here, they're wearing their medals and rings. if you want to see their more serious and much less-meta comedy go watch their contest sets from 1996-99 when they won. 98 and 99 are personal favorites

  • @jhagestad

@@PhiladivotJr thanks for the info! Just watched their gold medal winning performances. Very impressive. I can totally see why they go off the beaten path - nothing left to prove. Although I would think that rubs people the wrong way (i.e. not trying to win), but I suppose that’s right as a former champion. My other observation is what a difference in the size of the venues between then and now! From a side room at a convention center to a full blown concert hall.
