When I was growing up my father had a big framed picture of Mr.Bear on the wall of his trophy room, hell he inspired the whole family, except that one uncle that hunts Ben Person hahaha

Got to love it! The pure simplicity of it all. No fancy, expensive camo gear. No scent blocking spray. No high tech rangefinders or sights. Just a bare bow with white arrows, and two successful hunts. Fred Bear was a beast.

David Mccann I agree totally...if only 5% of the money put into all that accessory overkill was put into game rearing and stocking....none of that tech stuff would be needed!

It's funny to think about, but...for the time, they were using high tech equipment. They had the best and nicest gear available at the time. No different than us today. If they had Lazer range finders, bet ur ass they would have been using them. For instance, look at that old school spotting scope, definitely a "high tech" item given the time period

Watching Fred Bear hunt, in the wilds of the Yukon, was something! Great video; it had a real natural flow to it, helped, I’m sure, by the fact that Fred was the genuine, real deal. However and with whatever weapon you hunt- just get out there, enjoy the beauty of God’s country and enjoy your hunt. Every day truly is a blessing.

@Eric W True, but even the compound archer is still doing it the hard way, unless he is hunting over Bait, Not to say that Bait is Bad because quotas need to be addressed, but Bait takes the challenge out of the hunt. My Opinion.

Notice the narrator referring to the fiberglass bow, and fiberglass arrow? Hate to break it to ya but that was high tech gear back then..nothing wrong with using the top gear that is available to ya, esp if it leads to cleaner kills and less wounded animals, which a range finder definitely does

Fredbear was a hero he's the greatest bowhunter that I've ever seen and he does things the way a bowhunter should not the way these bullshyt Hunter sit in a tree stand with their scent block and their arrows that shoot 349 ft per second that's not that's not real though honey that's a city boys we're doing it or I called the weekend Hunter

Some people might be constrained by time, family, job, financial situation or living in a city. They won't have as much opportunity to dedicate so much resources to hunting and learning to hunt. They just want to get some meat on the table and experience the hunt. Also getting up in a tree around a salt lick is a primordial hunting technique. Tell a caveman he's a city boy. Keep in mind the arrow isn't responsible for that icky 349 fps. The bows are. Compound bows are. Fred Bear brought compound bows to the world. So blame him

It has always struck me as odd how someone who , cold-bloodedy and in a cowardly manner kills an animal can still refer to it as Magnificent . No , it Was Magnificent , but he destroyed it

It always shocks me and I find it very odd how anti hunters watch hunting videos and leave negative comments. Like people that get out and harvest their own food to feed their family Give a shit about what you think. You live in a concrete jungle, miles and miles away from these wild place, rely on others to feed you and your family then come on here and talk down to people who actually provide for themselves, it's laughable! And FYI, they are still magnificent and not destroyed, they are harvested and used as food.

Wanna bet.? Don’t get me wrong, I love everything about Fred Bear. But I have watched many of his very early hunting movies and I have seen him hunting from raised tree stands/hides. I own and hunt with bear bows and I would never part with them, they are for life and to be passed on to my son one day. P.s we live in Australia and hunt some harsh country.

Fancy spaceage fiberglass laminated bow. Corporation sold clothing. If you can't hunt nude with a spear, your not a true hunter.
