Hear a story a long time ago about Mr. Hill shooting a 2x4 in a cowboy's shirt while riding away on his horse . Don't know how true this is but it's a great campfire story !

Wow, one hundred and seventy two pound draw. No one making comments here could even pull his bow back. That is more pounds than the English archers used 120 to 150 and they trained constantly. He was a strong guy.

one of his bows did indeed have a 175 pound draw weight, but I doubt that it would of been a frequently used bow, for target shooting. He did hunt an elephant in Africa though, so maybe that's where the 175 pound caliber came from.

I believe the weight of the bow. Byron Ferguson uses a 70+ lb. bow, and old skinny Fred Bear shot his bows at about 110 lbs. or so. We are all weak these days. For Howard to be as good as he was, I would bet he shot the same bow all the time, never switching for anything.

No...the 175lb bow is what he would use for Africa. He shot many different weight bows. His "everyday" bow was between 115 and 125lbs. I can't remember if he shot the elephant with the 175 or a 195lb.

I struggle with 44 pounds and won't even shoot my 50 pound bow more than a few times a session or I will pay for it the next day. Was he shooting a 175 bow the entire time? That would be impressive in and of itself even if he missed the broad side every time.

its about building up the rhomboids in the back, I struggled at first but after a month I shoot my 55# recurve for 6 hours a session

+Timothy Ryan Fisher That 172# pull was a one-time world record. He did not use this bow regularly for shooting. I do think he used that bow to set his arrow flight distance record.

Trick shooting might be entertaining but most people would like to see some straight forward target shooting or hunting animals to demonstrate their skills. If you want to see one of the best bow shooters in the country look up Tim Wells hunting with bow videos on You Tube.

Howard Hill hunted over 2000 animals, won like 200 archery tournaments in a row and had outstanding trick shots. I'm not even going to get into the equipment comparison.
