In the scene, Joan has just been named the female star of a stage show Clark Gable is directing. The male lead of the show, Fred Astaire, arrives to rehearse a dance scene with Joan.

In another early screen appearance in this film are The Three Stooges. Larry Fine can be briefly seen at the beginning of this clip seated at the piano with his head in his hand. When Fred asks ‘Harry’ to play the tune that he and Crawford will be dancing to, he is speaking to Larry’s character.
