Joan Crawford was a very good actress, far better than she ever realised. But she was a very needy person and she needed to be loved in a controlling, insecure way. So she tried to bully Bette Davis into liking her, by buying her gifts etc. But Bette would have none of Joan's guileful ways and the more Joan tried the more Bette rebelled against what she rightly perceived as Joan's attempts to gain control. Though this is probably apocryphal, Bette apparently said of Joan "If you hang around her long enough, you'll pick up all kinds of shit".

Eh. A woman locked upstairs for what, decades, taken care of by her mentally disturbed sister, would not have looked or acted as angelic as Joan probably insisted that she would be. That kind of choice was good for her image but it did not make for a compelling climax.

Joen. JC was not paralysed. When BD picked her of the bed they had to weigh her down with a special belt to make it more awkward for BD to lift her off the bed. Watch the dinners being given to JC by BD. She was trying to kill / starve her to death. In the film BD was to say the least JEALOUS of her sister. Watch BD ordering the Gin. Making out she was her sister. JC was unable to go downstairs. JC played the paraplegic. They both went to a party one night. BD was so drunk she could not drive. In the film you see JC turn round as she is opening the gates to the drive. Not thinking BD would put her foot on the accelerator and drive into JC . This is all explained either during the film or at the end. The beach scene shows BD has lost it completely. This is why I have said watch it several times to understand what really happened. You cannot take it all in one go. PC. 02. 08. 2022.

I, agree with BOSTON!!! Betty, should have gotten an Oscar; for this fabulous, fabulous movie. Movies were already starting to be Crappier by 1962. I, liked Joan Crawford; but there was no better actress than Davis. It, is proven by the fact that, in the movie she could have the voice of a 70 yrs. old woman& become a 4 yr. old in 9 seconds... She, is a legend. Pp. throw that word around so much today& it is not deserved. She was the greatest actress ever. When she& Jim STEW were gone that was the WND of. #GREAT,GREAT, Actors!!!!!

As a rule, I'm not a fan of colorized B&W films. I'm one of those purists who think it's sacrilegious, if you will. However, this was done EXTREMELY well to the point as others have mentioned: it looks like it was originally filmed in Technicolor. So I must say, my hat is off to you for a superb job. I'm especially pleased that Joan Crawford looks absolutely beautiful whilst Davis looks like death on a biscuit. I never realized that her makeup was that garish in B&W. So for that alone, I'm very grateful. LOL! (I'm not a Bette Davis fan). If only all films could be colorized to this degree of excellence, then it would be completely acceptable. 👍🙏

PC. 02. 08. 2022.
Your work is always incredible! Thanks for this - it was really interesting to find out Bette Davis wore white makeup.

You didn't know about that? Yea, she came up with it herself too. She did her own make up.

It was filmed in black and white for the same reason some like it hot was filmed in black and white , to make very heavy make up ( on bette davis ,Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon) look more realistic.

It was depicted in the show feud as well
I agree with Bette on the BxW but man the color shows up her makeup job better. She appears even more deranged, you did a great job with the mix
This thumbnail is sending me out of orbit right now. She’s (Bette Davis)totally unhinged and undone here. 😂
What a treat to see this classic in color! You have condensed down to the highlight scenes in the movie which makes for a visually entertaining capsule of a 50 year old classic!
I usually don’t like B/W horror movies to be colorized, because it takes from the sinister, noir mood, but this one makes Baby Jane look way more sinister with the clown makeup and the awful hair. It really presents her madness and how her very existence is a costume.

I would pay good money to see this movie colorized. This is great work.
Bette's ability to play a truly broken and therefore evil character was unwavering. She played the hell out of this role. Joan was amazing too, but Miss Bette Davis deserved an award.

@@bsota8513 I don't like Bette Davis for the most part, but I do actually enjoy a small handful of her films, and this one wasn't bad .
What a fantastic compilation of clips from the iconic film..."What ever happened to Baby Jane." Perfect! 👌
She's even more ghastly in color, well done
One of my all time favourites ❤
Looks great in color! And, I will say, great job with the editing too, both the visuals and the soundtrack! It really emphasizes how much this movie is a thriller, and also how hauntingly sad the story is at the same time. Very good job!
