Fred Again gives classic House/Garage a 2022 update in his song Delilah with bright piano chords, swinging 16th note drum beats, bouncing synth bass lines and a big synth pad texture soaked in ambient reverb. I break down how to achieve these sounds using Ableton Live's stock library of samples, audio effects, synthesizers and instruments as well as how to get the tracks pumping by using sidechain compression.

Watched different tutorials for years but this style is sick. No stupid cut scenes or 'jokes' - just a straight up clearly illustrated walkthrough
Can we please talk about the production quality of this tutorial? Best I've seen on YT ever.

This is hands down the best breakdown of any song by Fred. The way you explain the details is so clean that I always come back to it. Would like to see more track tutorials by you.
Best breakdown i've ever seen on yt. So damn detailed and you used just the stock sounds, plugins and effects make it reach another level. Please do upload more remake videos . Can't wait to see more like this.
The amount of detail you expose on the tutorial (specially on drum samples) really make the difference with other ones. You have a new sub. Amazing!!

Super nice and incredibly well done video! Congrats Jaron!
Damn I really dig your tutorials. The amount of granularity and insight you're able to give without ever feeling bogged down in the details is amazing.
really unique format - I watch a lot of sound design, drum programming, and track remake type youtube vids and this is really up there as one of the better ones i've seen

Love his teaching! Are there other sound design people out there you also recommend? 😊
Loved your tutorial. Sometimes, it was difficult to me in other tutorials to get the most out of the chords or harmonies of the song and here you show exactly how the chords were built as you showed on the piano and also the synth pad parts of the song. Thank you so much for this. Subscribed!
From one tutorial producer to another, absolutely fantastic work. Clean, straight forward and very professional. I'm inspired!
Love this channel

Instant sub. Please keep it coming. Awesome format, awesome presentation. I like that you explain some small details such as raising the EQ to get a bright piano sound. I would love to hear more about these kind of small details and reasons behind your actions like why and when to change some of the parameters.
Mannn this is good! Thanks!
Thanks a lot ❤

Masterful!
Yes, Best breakdown I have ever seen on the Net too. Incredible - Great work !
hey man, this is one of the best tutorial I bumped into. I am copying like a robot at the beginning, but for real beginners it is great to see the building of the song from sratch, and listening at what all the effects do one by one. Thank you so much, now I recognize some stuff used more often than others and I start to naturally set them properly
I subscribed wow incredible : )
Insane video ma man
Dude this blew my little mind

insanely good video
Great job man, this is how youtube tutorials should be, so many of them are a mess that are difficult or impossible to follow, and many of them are like "I'll how show you how to do this thing.. requiring 15 of my favorite expensive plugins".. Thanks for keeping it accessible! And P.S. I find the best way to learn is to enter into someone's world and see how they get there from the inside, so this is much better than generic technical tutorials. I'd love to see more breakdowns like this, it makes learning 1000x faster.
you have the coolest tutorial videos

Thanks Stathis! Fred nailed it on this one!
This is amazing! Does anyone know more videos like this?
Great job recreating this track. I've been trying to make a garage-ish rhythm for ages...I was so close but missing a couple of those ghost notes and the swing I think. I really liked how you told the audience what to listen for in the difference of the swing amount in the grooves. I would love if you were able to do more of that, and to explain more of the reasoning behind the EQ/compression parameters. E.g. why are we boosting this frequency band, why are we setting the knee of the compressor to this, etc. P.s. I understand that would make the video longer and maybe you just wanted this to be a straight up step by step of what to do
subscribed. Although his main synth/piano has more complexity and dynamics this is definitely a great interpretation. thank you
@jaronlopez
Жыл бұрын
Hey Seamus, yes, Fred's synth/pad/piano track is really interesting and colorful. If the videos of him talking about/making his music are any indication, it seems there could be a lot of audio manipulation/sampling going on to get those complex/dynamic flavors. I'll put a deep dive into that kind of technique on the video idea list. Welcome to the channel!

wow
Incredible breakdown, great level of detail. Really appreacite the fact you only used Ableton stock plugins. Do you have any tutorials focused on explaining the "why" of setting up the various parameters?
This is really cool, the one part I really miss is going over the arrangement
Man I just need him beside me while I produce can you teach me from scratch damn This was amazing. Incredible do you do tutorials for Canadian artists ?
best
Thanks bro this is amazing ! I am using Logic Pro X. Do you think I can follow your tutorial and make it on Logic ? Thx !
You are god
this video made me download ableton
Best tutorial for beginners! Can't wait to see more videos. DEADMAU5 breakdown please!
whats up bro, great video, thank you. quick question: so you should apply the groove to the entire drum pattern and the bass when using the groove pool? rather than just percussion?
First week on Ableton, how do you get to the drum arrangement view that's in the video?
👌👌👌 Can you please make Danielle too?
Can anyone tell me what the synth is on Ableton for the Lead Melody at around 15:00 min mark is thankyou
Is there a vst alternative for drum bus?
can you explain differnce between volume and gain
Please do some Overmono!
Hey Jaron, I cannot see the sames of the notes in each individual midi cell, like you can in your video, do you know how i can activate this?

Funny we're learning this tutorial based on Fred again track while Fred sampled it from another track 💀
Bruh I thought I was somewhat good at producing till I watched this video 😂😂
Bro is dead inside
This Tutorial is amazing already. Now, it would have been even more helpful (for me) if you could explain what purpose the drum effects serve. I am for instance really interested in understanding what the subtle EQs do.
@RvBy88
Жыл бұрын
Subtle eqs are for accentuating the frequencies you'd like to stand out, or to slightly diminish unpleasant frequencies. It can also be used to have 1 signal make space in the frequency range where another instrument needs it more. The drum bus is for better glueing the different components together ( works like magic )
I wish you used logic pro
I like this tutorial but some why explanations would really improve it. Why is that? Because then the learner can fully understand the actions being taken and how to apply it to their own pieces rather than just copy this remake and guessing on the reason for actions taken.

Hm. Tricky question. I actually like how he shows everything very straightforward and to the point, without talking at "unnecessary" points. The video title is "Track Remake" not "Awesome in-depth tutorial on how to make house music". I.e. why does he set the resonance value to 12% for the second hi-hat? Because the original composer did it because he figured that it sounded good. There probably is no sophisticated reason why it is 12% and not 20%. My takeaway from a video like this is something like "oh cool one can use resonance on hi-hats, never thought about that" or "this 16-note syncope on the piano chords is a neat idea I would have never come up with". And I feel like this is what this video might be best for.
This is how to do a tutorial.
How the fuck this tutorial free...😮
Got alot out of your swing and drum midi

The world has enough division. Don't bring that energy into musicians spaces where we're trying to progress and hone skills. Especially a facetious comment like you made with a 16 year old account and zero content to back up your critique. I'm almost ashamed I spent 30 seconds of my day a year after you made your ridiculous comment to call you out. But you're wrong. Andi feel like you don't hear those words enough. Hope you get better soon. 🖖
I did not enjoy watching this tutorial. At the end it sounds good, but just telling me "KICK -1 DB" "SHORTEN 2 MS" is useless. -> tell why you do that and how it achieves a specific sound / goal
its the best tutorial chanel of the world
I wonder how many people either made remixes of this track or a melody similar for there own.. This tune is catchy as hell lol
If you're gonna spend all that time saying what you're doing when we can see it, then explain why you're doing it instead of just saying it ...
This info is priceless.
