This is exactly what it is like to be a father of a serviceman deployed to a warzone. You don't sleep, you miss them dearly, you feel helpless because you can't protect them. Thanks for making me cry.

as a retired Marine i think it is much harder being the parent/spouse of a military member deployed in harm's way. as the service member in a war zone, you know the few short moments your life/health are at risk and it's not so bad, you deal with it. being the one at home worrying is a nonstop emotional rollercoaster because all you see is the news covering the worst of what has happened, and it leaves you thinking it must be that way 24/7 for your loved one when in reality for most deployed service members it's not anything like you see on the news. i would always tell others if you want to put things into perspective, just compare the numbers the news reported of people killed in Iraq at its height, to the single US city of Chicago and how many died there on a weekly basis from violence. i was in Iraq in 2004-05 and Chicago was way more deadly than an actual warzone. but the press won't cover that because it has been going on for years and gets no ratings when they do report on it, but war casualties always get ratings and that is what they are after. they sell fear for higher ratings, to sell advertising slots at higher prices, for more profit for themselves.

This to me is the best moment of the reboot, Frasier is watching the news report about a building on fire, hearing about how someone is being taken to the hospital but he doesn't know who and he's scared that he might lose his son. So he does what anyone should do in this situation he talks to someone, specifically someone who can relate to what he's going through. It's a nice moment that shows off Kelsey's emotional range and how difficult it is for a parent to worry about losing a child which is something that no one should have to do. This show may not be as funny as the original but it handles emotion quite well.

We’ve been waiting 20 years for the twelfth series of Frasier and it was worth it. Scenes like this made the show extremely special. This particular scene will go down as one of the greatest scenes along with the many others where the actors got to act and show real, raw emotion. The scenes between Martin, Niles, Daphne and Frasier were particularly breathtaking. Roz crying her eyes out to Frasier, telling him she’s afraid of the dark broke my heart.

It is kind of a reverse. Freddie ended up taking after his grandpa. So, in the original version it is about Fraiser's relationship with his dad that is opposite to him. Now it is is Frasier's relationship with his son that turns out to be just like Fraiser's dad. But, it be different. Because, the last time Fraiser is the child. But, this time Fraiser is the father.

  • @GanonGhidorah

When I saw the trailer for this series, I was skeptical. All throughout Fraiser, once Freddy started getting older, we got the impression that he was taking after his parents - learning about psychology to one day become a psychiatrist like them. So once I saw that he was a Fire-Fighter in this new series, I didn't get how that massive shift in his personality would happen. Granted, it could be argued that his previous path was one his parents had laid-out for him and that he didn't choose himself. But it still felt like he was throwing years of knowledge and training away to pursue a completely different career. But this scene...I finally get it. And I get why it had to be done; so that this series would have a genuine emotional hook. Fraiser is at the twilight of his life - Martin is gone; Fraiser's lost his dad forever. Niles and Daphne are married and off doing their own thing. The family unit that Fraiser had enjoyed for years is gradually shrinking. And he wants to hang-onto the few connections he has left. So now, his son is doing a profession that could easily end in disaster. It's reawakened old memories of how it used to be, thinking about Martin being a Cop. Fraiser is at the point in his life where he's experiencing loss; he doesn't want to think of what will happen if he loses his son before his time.

Some children grow up wanting to be like their parents, others want to be as different from them as possible. I can believe that if Freddie decided not to follow in their footsteps -- and Lord knows, those two could provide plenty of reasons why not -- he would choose to go in completely the opposite direction.

  • @Phantom19913

It’s the nature of children to want to surpass their parents. Freddy probably realized he would never be as good as his father was at it so he found a new path he could surpass his father.

@@danieldickson8591 Hit the nail on the head, though the reasons are definitely varied for people. In my case, my dad was a cop and throughout my childhood and into my teens, I thought about putting on the badge myself. But into high school and 4 years of JROTC there, I found my real calling in the military. Still putting on a uniform, but instead following the path of my grandfathers and a couple uncles rather than my father. And yes, while I could have taken up the badge after I got out (many service members do), I wound up returning to Federal Service in the IT field doing the same thing I'd done in the military (yep, I'm a POG, fully own it). Some go a drastically different path just to not wind up like their parents. Some do it because they want more for their life, or a different life. Some get a different calling. Whatever the reason is... it's not so much of an uncommon thing to see.

And that connects with many of us who are getting up in years. While not the result of someone else's actions over the last few years I've lost my father, mother, three brothers, aunt and a nephew, most before their time, leaving my family down to just a niece and a couple of nephews all of which live far away from me. Thankfully my son hasn't taken up a risky profession but if he had I can imagine how much I would worry every day.

I actually am not that surprised by how Freddy turned out. Considering how Lilith and Frasier raised him, which was basically training him to take after them, I could get how he would do something that was the exact opposite of everything that was laid out for him and make him gravitate to the one person who let him be a kid, his grandfather. I would say how he turned out is because of Martin, who always made took the air out of Frasier and Niles's pomposity and remind them of what was really important in life.

I understand the dangers. I never think how it effects my love ones. I know it does but I try not to think about it.

I like live-studio audiences but some times they're very bad at reading the mood and they ruin more dramatic scenes in comedies. The final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth for example is extremely sombre, but the audience properly roars with laughter right up until the final moments which affects the tone. Though having watched cinema Audience Reaction videos and heard Americans screaming and hooting at every spoken word and action in super-hero movies...

My little brother died doing a job that, while nowhere near as dangerous as Firefighter, was somewhat dangerous. My father (who has the same job) nearly died many years before that but did not quit when my brother died. He was about 8 years from retirement and for those 8 years I had trouble sleeping and jumped when I heard the home phone for fear of getting THAT call. I never told him because he would not have retired early and it would've distracted him.

The problem for me with the new show is that many characters are way too young and immature to interact in any meaningful or interesting way with Frasier's character. Typically someone his age and education would interact with people over 50. This is kind of like watching a college age student interact with elementary school students. It's just not natural.

The laughter is TOOO much. The original Frasier earned the laughs, the laughter in these reboot episodes feels so fake and over the top. The whole thing is forced. I am so sad. They should have left it to feel eternal and timeless. Why bother doing this? Kelsey has a lot of stuff he need to work through, I can see a lot of pain in Frasier and that doesn’t make it feel so funny and it doesn’t feel like the escapism I enjoyed before. It just feels like therapy for Kelsey.

Sorry but Eve is a too "merry widow". Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't ask for some victorian "mounring for 6 years" rubbish, but she is too cheerful and carefree even when talking about a guy with whom she was married and has a child and who tragically died less than a year prior. One would expect something a little bit more touching and profound than him being a fan of Bruins and cooking a good chicken.
