About the Book:
"Frankenstein," first published in 1818, is often considered the first science fiction novel. Authored by Mary Shelley, the novel tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a scientist who creates a grotesque creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment. The creature, often erroneously referred to as Frankenstein, becomes an outcast and vows revenge on his creator.
Victor Frankenstein is obsessed with the secret of resurrecting the dead. But when he makes a new 'man' out of plundered corpses, his hideous creation fills him with disgust. Rejected by all humanity, the creature sets out to destroy Frankenstein and everyone he loves. And as the monster gets ever closer to his maker, hunter becomes prey in lethal chase that carries them to the very end of the earth.
Author:
Mary Shelley (1797-1851) was an English novelist, best known for her Gothic novel "Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus." She also edited and promoted the works of her husband, the Romantic poet and philosopher Percy Bysshe Shelley.
