It’s because Howard’s whole shtick was to use celebrities to promote himself, and it worked. He’s more famous and rich than most of his guests. Eventually the tables turned and people went on Stern’s show because of his personality, which would end up being better than anything they had to say for a promo.

I love Frank Vincent Zappa

I like how frank calls out a lot of shit you would not understand it’s untold until you realize the whole jimmy swaggert thing is a confused setup on the media

Frank probably thought this would be amusing in the same way that, say, "Norman Gunston" had been. The problem wasn't HS talking too much but the fact he was boring. Better all round was Howard's radio interview with Gail not long after Frank's passing (alas I no longer have it). Name of his female co-host?

Robin Quivers is Howard's co-host, she's been with him since 1980 and is still co-hosting the show today. Frank's been on Howard's show a few times, and his kids too.

His radio show should really be called Howard and Robin because she talks almost as much as him. Frank's been on Howard's show a few times, and his kids too. I believe this particular show was part of some Fox pilots that were shot but never ended up getting picked up, they're a little all over the place because they were still trying to work out a good rhythm for the show. Zappa was a good sport not to get up & walk out. Stern is the most asinine interviewer I've ever seen, didn't have one worthwhile thing to say, yet talked non-stop; if Zappa had indeed gotten up & left, would have taken him 10 minutes to notice. Then he chides Zappa, "You better start talking"... Asked some disgustingly offensive questions, both he & his partner there, also snide & conceited, this is one of the worst interviews Zappa was ever subjected to.

Frank wasn’t a good dad.
