I have often thought about this problem, carp reject rigs more often than get hooked by them.. Total sense from an absolute legend!

I do this for over 2 years already! with a light 0.2 gram shot on the hook to finish the rig! It makes it turns soooo fast in the lip, the fish shoot away directly and is hooked by the lead..

I always overshot my pop ups, so they drop quick. Fished a lake years ago, when critically balanced baits were all the rage & kept getting twitches & dropped runs. So over shotted with an ssg shot. Next takes were real flyers. Think the carp pick up the bait, then try to spit it. But it drops & pricks them in the bottom lip before they can.

very good point frank, ive been using the fox weights for while now on my withy pool rigs, but im going to step up the size, as that makes a lot of sense

Only got to watch the Underfishing channel to see how often fish have your bait in their mouths and spit it out Willy nilly and the hook doesn’t come within 5mm of it’s flesh, zero bleeps on the bank. But what about Frank’s shot on the hair rig? Very short rigs work also though. Probably the same principal.

Hi Frank did some feeder fishing yesterday at a match venue and got me thinking about your book and method feeders. Such a deviating tactic for a number of reasons but doesn't get used for 'big' carp fishing at all these days. I'll be dusting of the method feeders for the season ahead.

I catch a lot of mid and low 20’s on the method. It’s a far less complicated solid bag.

So anyways I've been using these recently and I have to say my aborted takes have reduced a somewhat decent amount. Def feel I've banked more fish and some real sick hook holds. So much so that I'm now flattening the barbs off a touch cuz they're TOO well hooked D:
