Frank Lampard is such an intelligent player, always seemed to be unmarked. And also hard working as well. All those extra training to make shooting look so easy. If he was French or German he would be accepted more by EPL fans

He always seemed to be unmarked because he moved a lot. And his passes were dangerous. If I were to mark him, the second he blasted a pass, half of my consciousness worried that pass would be an assist, and during that second of doubt, he'd already disappear-- to get the ball back and score.

He was underrated more as creative n intelligent midfielder n just being more hyped as goalscoring midfielder… He was infact a complete midfielder alongside the likes of other great midfielders but not being fairly recognized and discussed only coz he played for CFC ,imo

Some people always said that Lampard was not that good, he was just lucky he had a good team to carry him. That wasn't the case though. Lampard CARRIED the whole team. He dictated how he would want his teammates to move.

Lampard goal-scoring records overshadowed his complete game. He was a complete central midfielder who had the ability to do it all. A true definition of a box to box midfielder. Solid defense, accurate passes/crosses, and legendary timing when going forward.

Not good. Werner type of play need penetration from midfielder so he can found a place, hazard or oscar will be fit

@@sammybosak10 Not really. Un the early 2000 days, Liverpool got mascherano, xabi, and lucas to handle to defensive role. Gerrard played most of the attactik roles during that time. It wasn't the same after Xabi left.

Chelsea is one of my favorite team in EPL and Lampard is my favorite player. Actually is a very gentleman and team player. During his time Chelsea was one of the best team in Europe and Mourinho became the special one during this time. I missed this aggressive Chelsea very much.

the market also aren't as crazy as today (inflation aside). today, player who's playing in great form throughout the season (especially when they're young), their price will skyrocket 5-10 times. And when their club wants to shoo away any potential suitor, they will put an unbelievable amount of buyout clause. Back then was more simple, player's price are dictated by their performance at the moment. And most young promising talent, will cost mostly low compared to seasoned players.

It wasn't just before receiving the ball. He used to do shoulder checks while he was idle running or far from the ball as well. People didn't appreciate his ability to play first time passes enough. Nor did they rate his ability to play with his weaker foot. Remember that banger of a goal vs Everton with his left foot. Sweet sweet strike after taking a stumble. But ofcourse, he could never become as great as Scott Canham.
