He's improved a lot. To think, when he was 18 he wasn't even as good as Scott Canham...

His shot accuracy and clinicality was phenomenal. Plus, as Ranieri says in his book, Lampard was always 'right there' to pounce on the ball to finish.

I can tell you with great assurance that we lost Frank Lampard because of the idiots in our stands who targeted him with the most vile abuse and insults imaginable. Agustin Blanco above hit the nail on the head. The sad fact is that large segments of our fanbase are idiots, and they still perpetuate their embarrassing stupidity to this day. We once had the best fans in the country. Now we have one of the worst.

@charlie crokker Hard to compare a centre half with a midfielder, but they were both the best in the world in their respective positions and completely untouchable in what they brought to the game. What sets Lampard apart though, is scoring 20+ goals a season in the premier league, FROM MIDFIELD, for 15 years, and how he sparkled at the top level for so long, winning all those trophies, in a such a tremendous and difficult era. Around half of Lampard's success could have been achieved in a West Ham shirt, and we would have been naming a stand after him. Sadly though, because of turd brains like you, we'll be naming the next stand after Mark Noble instead. Lol! You see how stupid you are now?

@@jjbo2554 that's always the argument, but I think you people are confused. Check liverpool's midfield from 2003 to 2014 and see if you dont find world class talent in every season. It didnt matter who played with Lampard. He out performed all the players who played along side him. Ballack, Essien Mikel , Deco, Makelele etc. There's none who ever out performed him. Gerrard had exceptional talent with him at Liverpool. Xabi Alonso, Mascherano, Murphy, etc. Liverpool had good teams.
