Ive seen Petrucci, Romeo, Broderick, Loureiro, Loomis...but the scariest guy Ive ever seen live is this guy... after the concert I went backstage with a friend of mine and I just couldnt talk to him... I had to tell my friend to ask him to please sign my copy of one of his instructional vhs tapes I had from years ago ... totally starstruck

I just could not be that guy either. I froze where i stood and everyone else had their records and tshirts signed, having moronic questions to him and just blabbering about 🤢 I couldn't bear myself to try to talk to him since words lack mening. I don't regret it. It's better this way 😂 I doubt that i would make his day anyway 😁

@@Felix-78 I meet Kiko a couple of years back in a laney clinic in my country, jammed with him and he totally kicked my ass..but the best part was hanging out with him backstage, laughing with the dude etc, he is one of my heroes, He was really really cool and fun to be around, and of course a migthy player. But Gambale was something else, I felt like I wasnt worthy of even being in the same room with him…the truly greats have an aura about them..they’re not just playing notes…with them is more transcendental

He never looks like he's going to miss anything.

FG & Allan Holdsworth on the same stage one night in Washington DC in 1986!!! Allan’s band was the back up to Chick Corea’s Elektric Band and I think, Franks first year on tour playing with Chick. Next time I saw Frank was in 2005 with Steve Smith’s “ Vital Information “ band on a very cold, snowy December evening in St. Michael’s Maryland ( Blue Crab Headquarters). During a mid- show break, I approached Frank as he was making equipment settings on stage. He was warm, receptive and down to earth nice guy. Intuitively, Frank sensed I was going through a tough time in life, not knowing details, but just gave me word of encouragement and cheer that surprised and impressed me a great deal.

Unbelievable. Frank is an absolute monster on the guitar

I met Frank Gambale at a guitar clinic at Alta Loma Music in 1988. I was brave enough to ask him a question during the clinic. I asked him what he thought of Allan Holdsworth. He said something like: "I think he's the best. I think he's a genius. I think that 10 years from now we will all say 'Oh, that's what he's doing.'" First off, what an awesome compliment for Allan Holdsworth. Secondly, how come 34 years has gone by and we still don't know what Allan Holdsworth was doing. Also Frank played so awesomely at the clinic that everyone was literally laughing. Except maybe me. I was studying his every move. Lol. Love you Frank. 🤘

Unfortunately, Allan Holdsworth passed away in 2017. R.I.P., Mr. Holdsworth.

Even if you don’t like his music, he’s still fun to watch because you can tell he’s enjoying what he’s doing.

Frank should have the highest self-esteem being aware that nobody can beat him in his own game.

That guitar reminds me of the Ibanez days, Still Frank can turn anything he touches to gold.

Frank’s tone is one of the sweetest. Love those fluid runs and his phrasing and the little hints of blues in his playing. Not to mention his trademark sweep technique

This shouldn't surprise anyone. FG has been at the top of the tree for 4 decades.

Ladies and gentlemen, you are watching a master at work here. Not only is the technique clean and flawless, the lines (fast and slow) are melodic and tasteful. The fast-sweeping passages can only be described as blistering.

I have some inside skinny on FG from his gig with the Airforce band up here in Anchorage Alaska. He gets here the day before the big for one one quick rehearsal. My buddy was the trumpetser in the band. He said FG rewrote the horn lines on the spot. It was a killer concert, and yeah, like another chap posted, Frank is scary...

Gambale is SO cool, and such a fearless player!!

Frank's playing to a backing track at a gear show for industry folks in an unforgiving venue, and my heart is pumping like I've been running for an hour! Very exciting player for me.

Late reply, but I felt exactly the same way wacthing this. My palms are sweating, haha.

FG is a stylish guy. Apart from his note choices he is playing a yellow and black guitar wearing a yellow and black shirt. Even the clip-on tuner on his guitar's headstock is yellow and black!

The song is called 6.8 Shaker off his 'Passages' album.

Him and greg howe are unbelivably unknown and underrated.

Maybe underrated by the Malmsteen fanboys, but definitely not for the people in the ¨know¨. The greatest musician of our era, Chick Corea, chose him for a reason. He definitly is my GOAT if I had to choose just one guy.

Always flat out bakes my melon! Frank has such a masterful way of introducing so many varied phrasings into his compositions, always doing so in such a way as to transport us seamlessly through his process. It's really kind of a gift to have Frank's work and level of current activity. Thanks, man--

nobody can fast pick and sweep as clean and has as nice accent as Frank. And love his songs, his melodies are so beautiful. (well max ostro can but frank's songs and melodies are way way up there)

I love his playing. I watch a ton of his videos. Theres a channel on YT that breaks all his stuff down on sheet / tab and plays to it. This dude has CRAZY licks. So glad I found frank gambale.

What I love about this guy is he just gets progressively more crazy throughout some of his songs. He'll start all chill with a riff and some intermediate solo stuff over it then by the end you're like "oh this guy is one of the best shredders of all time". And it's such a slow progression that you barely notice it. Go from the first 30 seconds of the solo to the last 30 seconds and you'll see what I mean

I like how he smiles at these youngsters like 'yeah you thought ageing means slower and boring playing.'

Usually I think this shredding style is less like music and more like juggling. Clever but with no emotional impact. But this guy has it all.

Before hybrid picking, Polyphia, Matteo Mancuso, etc came along, Frank was cranking out the cleanest and sickest runs south of Shawn Lane. The most efficient hands in rock guitar, he just does it right in front of you at a NAAM show, with ease.

Chick picked him as his guitarist in electric band years ago, not much else to say
