CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Frank (Al Pacino) decries the charges against Charlie (Chris O'Donnell) and makes a scene in the courtroom.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Driven by an extravagant, tour-de-force performance by Al Pacino, Scent of a Woman is the story of Frank Slade (Pacino), a blind, retired army colonel who hires Charlie Simms (Chris O'Donnell), a poor college student on the verge of expulsion, to take care of him over Thanksgiving weekend. At the beginning of the weekend, Frank takes Charlie to New York, where he reveals to the student that he intends to visit his family, have a few terrific meals, sleep with a beautiful woman and, finally, commit suicide. The film follows the mis-matched pair over the course of the weekend, as they learn about life through their series of adventures. Though the story is a little contrived and predictable, it pulls all the right strings, thanks to O'Donnell's sympathetic supporting role and Pacino's powerful lead performance, for which he won his first Academy Award. Scent of a Woman is based on the 1975 Italian film Profumo Di Donna.

I was shocked that Pacino didn’t have an Oscar before this movie.
“There is nothing like the sight of an amputated spirit.. there’s no prosthetic for that.” I felt that.
I love the relationship between these two. Really touching how they supported each other during hard times. I love that Frank is acting like the father Charlie deserves here.
"if i was the man i was 5 years ago i would take a flamethrower to this place" "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!" lol
2:02 The struggle of him to find his stick is just so authentic. It's almost like he completely forgot he can still see.
When I first saw this movie I thought that Al Pacino was overplaying the part and his performance was a form of parody...the "Hooohaaas!!!!!" and so fourth....but after re-watching it I was being too harsh and just the vacant look in his eyes combined with the passionate verbal delivery is a feat in itself!

No..he is not....but he has that something that make him unique...an icon in the 70 and still worshiped until today, eventought he has spent the last 10 to 15 years acting in mostly crap movies. An nobody can take away that he played Michael Corleone, Frank Serpico, Carlito Brigante, Sonny, Det Hanna and this character to perfection
It's one of Pacino's greatest scenes.
Yes he would indeed. He played one in the movie "... And Justice for All" and he did a GREAT JOB! This part of Scent of a Woman, then a scene in "justice for all," and the one from The Devil's Advocate where he's ranting about god and what you can have or can't have "look but don't touch," "touch, but don't taste", etc... was priceless. He was on a roll. Of course, to those who haven't seen the film he plays the devil.

Great scene just great
Al Pacino is one of our greatest actors. Loved this movie.
"Sir you're out of order" " your outta order, your outta order, this whole trial is outta order"
As a wise men once said “If you’re tangled up, tango on”
THIS IS A CLASSIC!
This film is all these things -and more. No actor I have ever seen has mastered the way blind people "look" at the worldthem. Their blindness paradoxically makes them hear more, catch the inuendoes in what people say which we, thr sighted are too distracted to hear, their sense of scent is correspondingly heightened, likewise their sense of touch. Al Pacino's portrayal of a blind man should, in iysrlf, have gotten him an Oscar - but so much more. |I think I have wauched the DVD at least once a year. I used to read to a blind philospher - everything from Aristotle to Wittgenstein, and what amazed me is the speed of their pick-uo: undistractd by vidusl dti, uli, they heard the words with sharped acuity, saw contradictions which I, sighted, had mossed. I will not forget this film. It reminds me every time of my friend, Martin Milligan, who sadly did not live long enough to see this film.. Yes, he would have "seen" it. Dipak Nandy
Legendary Al Pacino🙌
This was the first Al Pacino I’ve watched and I didn’t know who he was before this. When I was watching this I actually thought he was a blind actor. This guy is absolutely brilliant there is not prosthetic to his acting.
What a performance!!!
Excuse me? "No I don't think I will " I gotta add that to my dialogue when dealing with pricks.
