I painted in water colours for years. Then had to care for my wife for six years. Now I have time I wanted to try acrylics. This tutorial ranks as the best I have seen. Thank you for such for the clever and simple approach. I can now proceed with great confidence.

This is brilliant! People that have been painting, for even over a year, forget just WHERE to start. I took a beginners ceramic course at a local art community program, and it was AWFUL! The teacher couldn't believe I didn't know anything and SHE was awful! I spent A LOT of money for the course and supplies and everyone knew each other and treated it as open studio time. I am not stupid, but you don't know what you don't know, until you do. I am experienced in acrylics and watercolor and I think this is brilliant. If you don't have small successes, you quit! Needless to say, I learned everything I needed to learn, on KZread, to be able to make clay prototypes and launch a food grade silicone mold business. NEVER be ashamed of where you're at! You will get better and teachers like this will allow us all to see the fantastic work of budding artists, who might have given up! Happy Painting!

Starting from the very beginning, your step 🚶‍♀️ by step 🚶‍♂️ explanation guides us (complete beginners) slowly to what we never thought we could do before. Have been painting (acrylic) for a few years but this is a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much for the brilliant ideas to get me started in a fresh way. We have an old stone bridge over a creek on our land and I've wanted to paint it but have been afraid I couldn't and never started! NOW I'm ready to paint the bridge. You have added a lightness to painted that is really needed. Thank you so very much. Whilst I paint--I will picture you doing it with me to help. I will also have my 12 year old granddaughter join me to watch this yet again to give her the gift of your genius way of simple painting. She is really gifted and will love all the ideas! Can hardly wait to show Vanessa!

Frank this is awesome, i started painting from your tv shows, you dont realise that you taught me a lot. I would be set up ready to paint along with you, helped fight my depression and deal with chronic pain in my dominate hand neck and back, hubby recorded many on video tape for me. Unfortunately our home was partially flooded last year and lost many of the videos in which i treasured, And all my supplies. Hubby bought me everything you recommended. Well i lost all my paints, all my canvas and books and books of awesome paper, large portfolio that stored my large thick paper and many paint brushes, basically lost the lot. now i can watch here on you tube and restart when i can replace my supplies and when our house repairs from the flood are completed. It’s depressing having lost most things and i have to re select and re purchases what i had lost. Hopefully the inspiration may come back. You are brilliant. And thankyou.

His cheerful ways belied a tragic personal life, including the demise of his dear wife, Peggy, in 2017, 'which put a stop to my gallop', as he said. But he was so popular that he was brought back to his once-a-year teaching engagement with the Chinese at his Beijing studio, and others that he had engagements with. Peggy can be briefly seen in one or two of his painting videos. RIP, Frank - one in a million and condolences to his family.

SO agree! I recently found Frank amidst the plethora of Watercolor Tutorials & "Teachers". What a find! Many other Teachers don't truly "instruct" or "teach" specifics. I now try to watch a Frank video everyday (Watercolors OR Acrylics as both are similar). My goal is to pick up just ONE new "tip" to add to my Painting Notebook. I combine small paint details with written notes - its so helpful as I find myself using it constantly to refresh a "tip". I am SO surprised myself watching my results improve. I think he is a GIFTED Teacher. The "Carrot" instruction alone was worth its weight in Gold - Hope you found that one!

I literally watched 3 videos before i got to this one and learned how great the artists where. But Thank you Mr. Clarke teaching the basics. Making it fun and understandable. I won’t forget “making carrots”.
