Francolins of India: There are 5 species of Francolins found in India, the state-wise details are as follows,
Peninsular India - Painted Francolin
Indian Subcontinent - Grey Francolin
North India - Black Francolin, Swamp Francolin
North East India - Black Francolin, Chinese Francolin, Swamp Francolin
West India - Painted Francolin

00:15 Black Francolin
Is the state bird of Haryana found in North and North East India. Female is mainly brown, but has a chestnut hind neck. Male is black and strikingly patterned with white patch on the cheek, a chestnut collar and white spots on the flanks.
00:57 Chinese Francolin
Also known as Burmese francolin, is common in the hilly regions of North East India. Female is similar to male in her patterning but is browner and less bright overall. Male has white cheeks and rufous on the crown, shoulders, and vent, but is predominantly covered with delicate black-and-white scaling.

Is a small gamebird, often found in groups throughout the Indian Subcontinent. They have an orangish face and fine barring throughout. Males can have up to two spurs on their legs. Both sexes look similar, but females are comparatively smaller.
02:23 Painted Francolin
Is a boldly patterned francolin with white spotting on the underparts and upperparts found in the West and Peninsular India. Females resemble the Black Francolin, but head and back is darker. Male has a rusty face, white throat and heavily mottled black and white plumage. The legs of both sexes have no spurs.

Is brown with an orange throat, long legs and white-striped underparts found in the North & North East India. They favour mostly the wet and marshy habitats. Both sexes are alike in plumage, but the cock is easily distinguishable by his spurs.

I have Dhakni francolin and a black one. Dhakni is tamed but the black one is caught from the wild.
