Thank you for bringing the spotlight on Asturias.
Oh, I love how you show the berets the people of Asturias wore. I had another grandfather (not the one in my thumbnail but his father) who would wear that.
After Cambodia Spain is the second country in the world with most mass graves, in every town in the country are buried people, outside of the towns, both of my parents fought the war on the republican side

Mine fought for the Republic too in Asturias but it's my great-grandfather in my thumbnail who was a journalist who was executed for writing against Franco..Well, he didn't allow them to execute him.

@@jennklein1917 Spanish Inquisition kill bout 3.000 / 4.000 people , but Henry VIII kill more than 20.000 , their wifes not included .
15:18 political opponents were often not arrested. They had a firing squad chasing after them with no trial, including many journalists. Including the Spaniard in my avatar from Asturias who was a journalist handing out pamphlets he wrote against Franco...Along with being my great-grandfather and my surnamesake
_Damn History You Scary!_ Ignorance is widespread.
One of the most enigmatic DICTATOR in history😅😅
Past like future
I was a kid in Spain when Francisco was in power in Spain.😅
Colonized Puerto Rico is still colonized...Morocco wasn't the last.
I live in area with lots of Basque people (Northern Nevada) and I've never met any other group that actively HATES Franco with more passion and vehemence than the (Spanish-side) Basques. They can't even hear or say his name without getting angry and upset. If they see a picture of him, they spit on it or burn it or throw it away. He's almost worse than Hitler, or even the Devil himself, for them. I know an old Basque guy who won't even eat Franco brand sourdough bread, because it's called Franco... Even the young Basque kids know about him and what he did to their great grandparents, and they hate him too. From what I've seen, they don't hate all Spanish people (at least, not in America), just Franco.

And I don't like people who look like him, including an uncle on my mom's side. People who look like Franco all tend to be mean and like to put down people with their big round wide head.

Fascinating to hear about the Basques in northern Nevada. I would like to meet them someday. How many are in that community, do you know? When was it established?

@@calvinsbnb76 oh, several thousand, I would imagine... They moved here in the mid 1800's... Fun fact: The Center for Basque Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno is the leading research and educational institute of its kind in the United States, and one of the few schools where you can learn Euskara (Basque language).

A wonderful introduction and incredible spotlight on Spain 🇪🇸 political issue from 1936 to 1939..infamous imperial brutality of Spanish colonialism from outside ( leftover colonials ) returned to home... tasted the Spanish population, and what others suffered before 1936 in Africa, South America, the Philippines..by Spanish soldiers, sailors ⛵️,and officers' hands
