4-6 oz steak (top sirloin) (Ingredients for one sandwich)

2 oz salami & ham

1 link fresh sausage

1/2 link linguiça

6 slices Muenster cheese (or Jack, Provolone, Mozzarella)

2 slices bread (thick like Texas Toast)

1 egg

2 TBSP butter for grilling the sandwich and frying the egg

Sauce for 2 sandwiches

1 can beer

1 tsp beef bullion powder
4 oz white wine

8 oz tomato sauce

1 yellow onion

1 clove of fresh garlic

2 TBSP olive oil

1 bay leaf

2 tsp hot sauce

salt and black pepper to taste

1. Sauté the fresh sausage in some olive oil for about 5 minutes, add the Linguiça and onions cook and additional 5 minutes.
2. add the beer, wine, tomato sauce, bayleaf, hot sauce, and beef bullion, cook at a medium boil for 15 minutes. Note: the sauce needs to be hot when you pour it over the sandwich.
Assemble the sandwich:
1. Salt and pepper the steak and Sauté until done. Set aside..
2. Add about a tsp of butter to a pan; place one slice of bread in the pan, layer the bread with the
salami, ham, cooked fresh sausage, Linguiça, one slice of cheese.
3. Grill the sandwich in the pan until it is golden brown, place the second slice of bread on top flip the sandwich over and add another tsp of butter, grill until golden.
4. The sandwich can be placed in a warm oven (200-280F) while you cook the egg
5. Fry the egg sunny side up.
6. Place the sandwich on a plate. Place the egg on top of the sandwich and layer slices of cheese to cover the sandwich.
7. Pour the sauce over the sandwich. (the hot sauce will melt the cheese)

    I agree with most comments in here the time invested is well worth it.....and in the prep and cooking time it allows for a super bock or sagres pre meal lol ......

    as a portuguese person, an avid cook and Francesinha lover, i have to say it looks good! It should be mentioned that this dish is from PORTO. It is a symbol of the city itself, it is not something you'd find in other cities in Portugal. (if you do, i wouldn't recommend eating it haha)

    Thank you, I’ve been to Porto quite a few years ago. At that time I did not know about the Francesinha, I hope to make it back to that beautiful area Portugal and try it in it’s city of origin 🍻.

    False!! Francesinha is the Big Mac of Portugal and every region has their own way of making it. In the Minho region in Northern Portugal, this sandwich is just ham and cheese toasted with the sauce poured over it.

    I'm from the North and Braga has a particular style of sauce. More creamy and acid, with less seafood and tomato flavour. So I disagree. Best francesinhas are actually in Braga. (and yes, I tried dozens in Porto as I lived there)

    good job its looks good!im from Porto originally and im a francesinha lover!!im living in the USA currently and i can't find the type of linguiça we have in Portugal for francesinha..at least in Las Vegas!and i cook francesinhas very often.

    Looks good but...you added too much tomato to the sauce imo. When ready the sauce should be blended and sieved before gets in the pan to hot it up.

    Thanks for the honest critique, I did switch to a lapel mic. So I think any videos that came out around March of 2021 going forward have improved audio. I wish I made the switch earlier🍻.
