France Is Testing Its New Gigantic Nuclear Aircraft Carrier

France Is Testing Its New Gigantic Nuclear Aircraft Carrier.
The French Military Has Completely Shocked The World With Its New Gigantic Nuclear Supercarrier.
With the deemed conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Eastern European front is still a bubble waiting to burst. Countries in Europe, especially those that are part of the EU, increased their military forces in case the conflict escalates and hits their home soil. Part of this preparation is France. France has been a significant player with their underrated military operations in the Middle East and Africa. Even more so, the French military has completely shocked the world with its new gigantic nuclear supercarrier. Having nuclear weapons on Navy ships is nothing new, but with France’s recent development, even its allies are raising their eyebrows with this surprise announcement from France. This can only mean one thing and the preparation for a nuclear war continues to escalate tensions, not only in the far Eastern Europe conflict but throughout the world.

Exactly and it's hardly gigantic. It's much smaller than any US flattop and it smaller than the 2 UK carriers. It is also older than 22 years. It was commissioned 23 years ago, however was laid down in 1989 and launched in 1994. It took almost 8 full years after first launch to commission after redesigns, flaw fixes etc and it still faces numerous extensive maintenance lay ups, without a sister ship to take on it's duties. The Foch and Clemenceau by comparison were commissioned in half the time of CDG and at least then France was able to deploy an AC all the time.

The French have maintained ICBM's in missle subs for some time now however it is unlikely that they will put those type of missiles on their new aircraft carrier. Ski jump style carriers place weight limits on aircraft launching from their deck. This means that combat aircraft will not be able to launch with maximum weapons on board so I think that the French will go with the electro-magnetic catapult system.

The EU is to disunifed for any joint military for it's members, as for france being a superpower, while I can see you guys becoming the dominant power in europe and the mediterranean (unless turkey rises in power in which case they will be your primary rival) france does not have the capabilities to be a superpower. While having a healthy birthrate compared to your neighbors like germany who is currently dying, you do not have the giant population that the US or china have (though china to is dying of old age) to be able to successfully compete with american and chinese markets, and you don't exactly have a competitive tech and industrial capabilities that the two current superpowers (america and china) along with the japanese and koreans have. That being said having a powerful ally in europe would be very nice to have with how chaotic the coming world is shaping to be. If you do read this then thanks for listening to the rant of some american giving their outside opinion on a european power.

@@delta2372 The EU combined has a population of 450 million without the UK and ukraine. With both of them we got a population of around 600 million. That is 600 million people combined with a gdp larger then the US. Without the UK and ukraine we would be the 2nd largest economy. A 2% spending on defense would be around 2/3 of the US millitary budget. With a 3% spending which is the same procentage the US spends on defense we would be slightly smaller or larger depending on the question weather the UK is in the EU or not. The problem is it will never happen since nationalists think of its own self importance. That makes cooperation an impossibility. One thing that annoys me the most is the part where many european people thinks america is against it and that we should rely on NATO/American tax payers to defend us rather then ourself. Since they say that an EU army does not have american support because we would have some diffrences on our foreign policy. Though I think americans would be happy with a strong ally even though some of our foreign policy might differentiate on some areas. Since america would not need to pay a dime for european defense. As a example the EU currently has a combined milllitary of 3.7 million troops 1.7 million is active duty professional soldiers. We outnumber the russians already 2 to 1 with a average spending of 1.5% of gdp. But because of inefficiencies we got lower volumes of equipment since we produce 3 different aircraft's, 7 different tanks, 22 different IFV types, etc. This parallel production is creating an artificial bottleneck that make us weaker for no reason. If we standardized our equipment we could rival the US in millitary strength. Making it harder for russia and china. Though that will not happen since we got idiots in power, like america got some idiots in power aswell. I do not know what it is with some people in power and sabotaging their own nation. edit: I like to rant aswell as a european or more specificaly a swede who is for a european federation. Though a lot of my countrymen disagree with it. In general there is large support for a EU military in the younger generation while older generation is against it since they feel threaten by it destroying our individual culture. Though I think the EU is not a threat to it since we got a single market yet we have not lost our own language. The EU is great if we want to help each other creating a better world rather then tear each other down to make ourself look better. I think there is some similar dynamics between US states where some states does not like to cooperate on some projects because of ideological differences or some other reason. Though america is a lot better on cooperating with each other then people are within the EU. I think we should learn more of that from america like america could learn about our mixed market economic system from europe. We all have diffrent areas we need to improve on, no nation is perfect as I like to say. Link to europes combined strength. Might look a bit diffrent now when we are militarizing after 2022. Will be the most advanced carrier in the world? Not likely? Not to say they’re not advanced, but with the 11 new 13 billion dollar each aircraft carriers, I think the Americans will have the lead for the next 30 years, more than likely? & with 1 or 2 aircraft carriers total, compared to the 10-12 super carriers, and the other carriers the Americans have, as well as the giant reserve fleet they have. Nobody does naval air warfare like the U.S. and without the Japanese and the British not really having much of a naval air-fleet anymore. The U.S. is the only nation to really understand and still be able to do large scale naval warfare. Now if you wanted to make a claim in this same regards for French submarines, you would have a much better argument I would think? Since I believe that they have a pretty remarkable line of new nuclear ICBM and attack subs coming on line that seem to be more comparable to U.S. submarines of the same type. But that’s just my opinion and I only know what I read and see on KZread lol!

The Charles De Gaulle is neither Gigantic nor a Supercarrier. the De Gaulle is only 85 8ft., compared to the USS Nimitz at 1092 ft or the USS Ford at 1106 ft. Also to qualify aw a Supercarrier you must weigh at least 70,000 Tons and be capable of carrying at least 80 Aircraft. the De Gaulle is only 42,500 tons and capable of carrying 40 Aircraft which disqualifies it on both counts. The Nimitz Class on the other hand is 100,000 tons and is capable of carrying 90 Aircraft, while the Ford Class is also measured at 100,000 tons, it can carry 90 Aircraft plus an undisclosed number of Unmanned Reconnaissance, Refueling, and a Attack Aircraft (UCAVs). Now THOSE are Supercarriers. PS The Chinese, Russian, Indian Italian, Turkish, South Korean, and Japanese Navies are all larger than France's. Also the PANG (Future Naval Aircraft Carrier) which is supposed to be a Supercarrier but is not going to be one since it is expected to be 75,000 tons which qualifies but will only carry 30 Aircraft (not 80 or more as needed)plus an undisclosed number of Unmanned Aircraft (UCAVs) which does not qualify. Since it won't be ready until 2038 and will replace the De Gaulle, which will be Decommissioned, how does this "grow" the French Navy?

Straight up lies. We have more Destroyers, more Subs, and more Helo Carriers (they got none) than Italy (They got more frigates and patrol vessels... lol). Their 2 carriers combined still have a lower total displacement than the CDG, arent nuclear propelled, and have a much lower tech profile overall Turkey literally has 0 Destoyers, 0 AC, 0 HC, for about 20% more Frigates, Subs, and Patrol Vessels France Navy is comparable in size to Japan and South-Korea. China, the US, and Russia obviously are the biggest players, with India on its own league behind them. Everyone else however comes behind.

The Royal Navy's new carriers are the blueprint for next gen flat tops, I suggest you do some research before you make videos mate, it'll make them more interesting and/or factual. The Rafale is a 4th Gen aircraft, the Royal Navy/US Navy/USMC Carriers have 5th Gen F-35's so they're behind there as well. The Royal Navy's Carriers have about 800 crew on board because of how advanced it is. The QE Class Carriers are bigger, more advanced, can carry more aircraft and are just generally better mate, sorry......

The 2 aircraft carriers of the Royal Navy are simply two big targets with no defensive weapons and poor quality aircraft. The aircraft carrier charles-de-gaulle has undergone during these technical stops a modernization and a renovation to allow it to have the latest technologies. The CDG has a nuclear propulsion whereas the British aircraft carriers do not. The Rafale has nothing left to prove, it is a 4.5 generation aircraft. The F35B has technical problems, a shorter range and a smaller payload. If the F35B wants to carry out important missions, it must carry weapons under its wings, and therefore more stealth. British aircraft carriers are designed for amphibious support or near the coast.

@Endika Eche Some British people still believe that the Royal Navy is the same as it was several years ago, but this is no longer the case.

The QE air wing consists of 24 f35bs under normal circumstances ( as of today it still doesn’t operate 24 f35s) or 36 in extreme cases and 2 Merlin. While the CDG’s air wing consists of 30 to 40 Rafales, 2 Hawkeyes, 2 Caïman marine, 2 Dauphin Pedro, and soon 1 Panther. A minimal search on Wikipedia shows it. The CDG has a nuclear strike capability, cruise missile strike capability, electronic warfare capability, long range fire and forget air to air capability, air defence capability by itself (the ship itself with his Aster missiles, not talking about the planes), deep strike capability against active enemy air defences, Hawkeyes, etc… The QE and Prince of Whales have none of that…

What can you do only with F35 on board ? They need other planes with them. And only available at 50% with a lot of maintenance.
