What an amazing game. As a Frenchman I am twisted among many feelings: - First comes awe. The level of intensity and the level of skills we saw last night was just amazing - Pride. I am proud of our team. They showed what French rugby is and played it to the perfection (almost). - Respect. South-Africa were amazing. I was seriously scared each time they ran forward with the ball. So much power. - Frustration. A bitter taste stays in my mouth when I see the few South-African fouls which were not spotted in key moment such as the turnover that led to the last penalty (the contester put his hands on the floor prior to contest which is illegal), the weird interception by Etzebet at the beginning of the game (i'm just surprised there was no TMO check there) and the many times Boks charged elbows forwards. This being said, there might have been the same on the French side (let me know if there were) and we would have won if we had not missed the few kicks we missed. Well done South-Africa and thank you for the show.

Since you asked for some points : - it felt like the TV crew were only showing south African replays to try and paint a bad picture for the ref , never showing French mistakes. - many times I saw France clean out a ruck from the side, especially in the last play of the game I saw a clear one from Danty. - skew lineout throw ins by France that weren't called was frustrating - often after a tackle the French player would get out of the way of the ball but cleverly put themselves in the way of key cleaners - when we played against the all Blacks and lost the last time Aaron Smith passed the ball deliberately into our players and it got penalties but when we did it today it didn't count so that was frustrating from the ref. - when Pieter Steph du Toit got send off for an HIA I wanted to see how he got hit but there was no replay so it just gives the SA fans this feeling that - the Eben yellow we felt could have been a LITTLE harsh because he was very low for a man his size and the head contact was so SMALL, there is so much more head contact that itsnt even called yet the TMO thought that one is important , just felt wrong

The games between NZL vs IRE and FRN vs SA were semi -final and final quality. But this one was the most intense, nerve wrecking and emotional match. I had heart palpitations throughout match , France is a brilliant team, they should be proud,but the Bokkes never disappoint 👌🏽 they are literally the only thing that brings our Nation together🇿🇦

Rugby Union fans are just the best. Everyone is there to enjoy and admire the game. Yes, you want your team to win but we all get the bigger picture. Well done to both teams for putting on an insane spectacle. What a game.

I'm so proud of the Boks, I'm honestly gutted for the French, the pools were set up silly and to have the best 4 teams play in two games in the quarters is sad, but to win it, you have to win it all. This was one of the most entertaining and nail-biting games I've ever watched, the French were outstanding and just 1 point separated the two giants after 80 minutes.

What a game of rugby. As a South African, I'm proud and happy my team won. But France really gave us a run for it and we gave them a challenge as well. As it sometimes goes down to luck. Both teams played their hearts out both deserve the win. The fans looked like they had a great time and both sides so humble in their comments of the game. Good to see.

So don't even wanna bring the ref into this cause that's just a hole we'll never come out of. By luck I'm talking about which team just gets the points when they get the opportunity. If France got their conversion after the try, that Kolbe charged down, could've been a different story. How often do you see a successful charge down, could be luck in that. The same way that if we also got the attempted drop kick by Kolbe, could've been more points. Unfortunately that's just the game and blaming the ref when we know we both got bad calls against each team would be unfair. It wasn't biased towards any one team.

If you look at the stats it’s insane. The amount of tackles, meters run, line outs won, meters made, possession, time spent in the Bok half… France should’ve statistically won, so it’s a credit to the Boks that the score line was so damn close

That's how we play, even if you look at Romania, where we won 76-0, they had more possession than we did. We play the defense and wait for the opposing team to make a mistake, and when they do, we capitalise

I am South African and I will be openly honest...THE BEST TEAM-FRANCE 🇨🇵- LOST TONIGHT...they were all over us, they had us pinned on all directions,I mean it's unheard of for the BOKS to lose lineouts and scrums...big ups to the FRENCH for pushing us to the max,this was by far the best and most gut wrenching rugby match I've ever watched. Sad that we had to break FRENCH people's hearts as the host nation. THE BOKS WON BUT RUGBY WON ULTIMATELY✌🏿🇿🇦

As a South African I absolutely commend France on their playing and sportsmanship. They were an amazing force to be reckoned with. They gave it their all. And, as possibly the best rugby player in the world currently, my heart especially feels for Dupont. Known to be an expressionless player, seeing the hurt in his eyes last night was heart breaking. Last night was a spectacular game.

To me that was a Final. One of the greatest games in history. The speed and precision of the play was superhuman.

The French played with so much heart!!! Much respect to them, i mean 1 point!! I honestly think that if you replace the springboks with France then they would win the WC based on what we witnessed with this game. Well done to all the players on the field, they gave us the fans their all, i mean the scoreboard shows it.

I have coached my sons rugby team since he was 7 years old, and that is the mindset i have installed in him and his teammates. When you play, you leave everything out on the field. I believe the French will win a World Cup at some stage.

Let's be honest. We were outplayed by a brilliant French team last night. To be outplayed like that and still win is nothing short of a miracle. In hindsight that Kolbe charge down was the moment that saw us through. But all credit to the Springboks who held on, who kept their belief when the French gave us little reason to believe we were going to progress to the next round. I was there in 95 in the pouring rain in Kings Park when the French came within a centimeter of knocking us out of the World Cup. We went on to lift the trophy. May last night's match be a similar omen for the Springboks because the French came within a millimeter this time of knocking us out. My heart is still pounding. With pride for our beloved Springboks. But heartache for Ireland and France as well.

The difference was just a few moments of rugby intelligence. Etzbeth’s slap back instead of a deliberate knock-on, Cheslin’s charge down of Ramos’ kick. I feel bad for France and Ireland who are such classy rugby teams but I’m so impressed with the Boks and All Blacks. I was backing France and Ireland. I think my own England team will get crushed next weekend. Amazing that England are the only undefeated team left in the tournament. 😂

Seeing the mutual respect among fans for one another. Boks fan here, the French team played incredible rugby. My hearts go out to them they really tested us in this game. I think experience won out over the surgical tactics the French showed in this test. Legends! If they had won I’d have to agree they deserved the win.

France and Ireland were just as strong as their counterparts but they lost in the crucial moments of the game: Ireland weren't able to deliver the last phase and France weren't able to score a try with one advantage. So this means that AB and Boks were better on the defence and overall.

As a Bok fan watching these great French supporters I'm now nearly sorry that we won the game 🤣🤣🤣 I was convinced France would clinch it in the last moments but we held out. If ever a team deserved to be in the semis it is France. I would have been happy if France won this WC. Just shows what a travesty the draw for this WC was. But as a Bok supporter I think our team may be at the best level we have been in the last 3 or 4 years. This team is tenacious, streetwise and tough. I'm not arrogant but we will have to beat ourselves for England to win on the weekend. Kudos to the presenter for being gracious to some very pissed Bok supporters.

The French supporters showed such even-handedness in their reviews, especially given the rough calls which ran against them during the game. To be fair the referee called a few things against both teams that seemed controversial, but at the end of the day he's human. What a great game of Rugby...

It was like a cup final. My nerves are shattered. Two brilliant teams taking on each other and sad that one team had to loose. That last kick of Handré just affirms that a good kicker is absolutely vital in a tight game.

We have witnessed probably the greatest games between the top 4 nations at this rugby World Cup. The respect and admiration between both winners and losers with the majority of fans is a testimony to these giants of rugby.

The Irish and French fans have embraced this world cup as a kind of poetic odyssey, as is their nature, with a sense that rightness will prevail. This weekend the All Blacks and Bokke have each completed another day working the office or the farm, where things are of the earth as much as the emotions. That they have done so with a sense of style (the ABs brilliance in creating Jordan's try, and the proud Bokke history of do-or-die epitomised by Etzebeth's crashing though against the odds) is a sign that their more grounded ways are no less poetic.

As a Saffa i really thought we were going to lose after the first 10 mins. Even i underestimated the fight our lads have. I feel so so so sad for France as they deserved more than going out in the quarters. But congrats to the Boks and condolences to France, could've really gone either way and this should have been a semi or a final

Even if the Bok’s lost I would be gutted but damn proud of the team effort and resilience. The French were burning red hot from kickoff. It would be easy to succumb to the pressure then it’s a long day at the office. Good game both teams. It was a cliff hanger till the end.

I’m a South African & Bok supporter all the way but man do I Respect the French players, they played extremely well & they have extremely good players. But well done to the Boks I’m proud to be a South African
