I believe he's referring to the new "production framing" practice of just nailing overhangs on rake walls as apposed to running cantilevered / outrigger overhangs like you see this gentleman do here. I personally agree with @drumswest5035. @@Deerrus

Во даёт.! явно Лари насмотрелся. Только нет нижней обвязки, верхнюю обвязку можно частично прибить на земле, под металлочерепицу надо было обязательно гидроизоляцию и контробрешетку. А так круто :) И еще вопрос только - кто разрешил на берегу строить ?? )

Я смотрел видео строителя с Аляски, у него гидроизоляция и контробрешетка, я не совсем понял зачем она? Можете кратко объяснить? Хотя длясебяя рассматриваю соломенную крышу, но все равно интересно.

Looks good,but the bottom plates should be presser treated, or ice shield under the bottom plates,if you put them on concrete !

If you look closely you can see there is a sill protective strip between the sill plate and the concrete slab. Commonly used in Finland and Sweden as well. Pressure treated wood used for sill plates in the 60s and 70s has been found to cause bad smell and toxic gases in the house over time when the moisture level in the sill has risen. So nowadays we use regular construction wood with sill protection between wood and concrete.

@@MrUnamazait's the normal procedure for Canadian/Finnish framing and yes, it's standard practice in Russia. Houses without bracing and without a rigid osb or other sheet-type external (under)cladding eventually lean away from the prevailing wind and lose structural integrity. My only criticism here would be the use of 100 mm board - I would use 150 and cut the notches tighter. But I'd happily work with this guy on a build project - as they say in Russia "his arms grow from the right place" (i.e. not from his ass).

nice! next time use pressure treated sill plates & cut the ridge back 1.5 on each side that way you'd have a clean miter on the facia. I'd be very happy with it! good job;

Жаль по металлочерепице не по технологии сделал, металл будет конденсировать в любом случае, нужно плёнка для тёплой или холодной кровли, они разные.

He didn't put a vapor barrier film on the roof, and he didn't put plastic waterproof insulation under the hood closing plate. Anyway, the carpentry is nice.

Nice build. Why didn't you use a wireless nail gun? Would have saved time 3-5x at least, it just doesn't make much sense to use a hammer these days.

You are right, the roof was not insulated against moisture or heat. A screw connection is stronger than a nail.
