Fractal Wipe (Burn) Effect in After Effects | 2 Minute Tutorial
Фильм және анимация
Here's how to create what I call a "fractal wipe", which is a fractal noise that expands from an origin. It'll work great with the "burn" effect that I made a tutorial for last time.
You can swap out the gradient with anything. it could be a circle with a box blur that you keyframe the scale of, or maybe a custom gradient. Anything works, as long as you use it as the source for the time distortion effect.
It's a pretty simple trick, but I didn't see any tutorials
There might be a quicker / "easier" way to do this, but for me this one gave me the best results without have to make too many tweaks

Fantastic! This is just the effect I wanted to created but didn't know how to! It has so many uses as well - I'm going it use it to help animate frost/ice forming around the edges of the screen and moving towards the centre until the entire screen is frosted over :)
Thats so genius! Nice work and thx for the video man
Outstanding!
Its perfect thanks
Underrated bro
can I also do burn in with this??
help need asap! im stuck at the time displacement step, wont behave like i want it to
I get the effect to work on black and white text. Is there a way to get this effect to work on a coloured foreground? To use it as a transition from a map that is shown, to sort of fractal wipe away the map to reveal a video playing behind it. Not sure if this particular comp could be the basis for an effect like that.
1:34 I need help after adding the time displacement affect the composition is all white, can you help me?
time displace doesnt work 😅, idk if its cuz im on ae 2020 or im just doing it wrong...
at 1:34, It just still normal fractal noise. Nothing change and doesn't work...
I'm lost at the Time Displacement stage, can't replicate what you did.

Me too, some how the Displacement Layer wont behave like it should.

@@matyasmeszaros2798 In theory, as long as you add the time displacement to the fractal noise comp then when you're choosing the time displacement layer you should just have to choose the gradient wipe (which needs to be set to overlay) that you created. What exactly is it doing, or I guess NOT doing, for you?

It will work dont apply those effects in comps, apply those in layers

Just fiddle around with the time, if your comp is longer in time then shown in the video, make the number bigger. if shorter, make it smaller. I had to have it on -0.1 to see the desired effect.

@@naveendhurgaraj8592I also need help, do I have to apply the effects to the layers within these compositions?
