It's a sad movie. Not creepy. Very strong and some of the best performances that I've seen in years.

I think Steve Carell did a decent job but it was on the nose and in a sense campy. Du Pont in real life was odd but he did have more emotional range than this. Hell go watch interviews. Carell comes off almost like a ghost of a person whereas Du Pont seemed more eccentric.
