@@vic7k Islam was actually quite affective on his feet. Did you watch the fight? Islam had a considerably higher strike accuracy than Volk. it was like 40 to 60%, something like that.

Not complaining about the loss, not trying to convince anyone he won any of those earlier rounds, just admitting areas he could improve on and providing an unbiased opinion of his performance. What a consummate professional, you can easily see why he's at the top of the sport. Wish they would have a rematch.

technically speaking you cant do much against someone with short limbs..... that's the damn secret.... even in his last fight, he could stand and ground and pound Yair while Yair was still keeping Alex in his guard..... truth is, Alex's own fans didnt give him much respect because he is short..... let's be honest, people are superficial, and cant swallow that pill......but in fact, at same weight, the only disadvantage of being shorter is range, and if you accept that, and become a master at range like Alex....... you find many advantages at being short, like the so much difficulty to take their limbs, or take them down because their center of gravity is much lower

Volk is a true champ and champs give credit due where it’s due. He wasn’t expecting islam to have such great striking. Islam also didn’t expect volk to be so strong neither. That’s what made this fight fun. Volk did amazing against a warrior from Dagestan. All I gotta say is nobody is beating these two guys. They are the real deal. The real question is can Charles beat volk or Volk beat Charles? That is the fight to make.

Honestly, this is probably the most high-level MMA fight we may have ever seen, 2 undisputed champs going for pfp greatness. Credit to both men on an amazing fight, they could fight 10 times and I think they would go 5-5.

Volk is very respectful and a great champion. About a year ago I was like now, Volkanovski he’s all right. After the last couple fights I’ve seen him the guy has grown on me tremendously because of how humble and honest he is to everyone out here. He seems like a regular guy but he’s definitely no regular dude!!!!

Are you suggesting that Islam won the 5th round despite the knock-down and ass beating he got? If not, then Fox leaving off a sequence to make out Volk won a round which he obviously did win either way doesn't seem too outrageous. Initially most of the watch-alongs like Rogan & co, Cejudo & co etc thought Volk clearly won, though I guess going back in retrospect you can give it 48-47 either way. Volk was a $4.20 underdog though, and if the best argument for the big weight-cutting LW champ was that he scaped past a guy who the UFC PI have cleared to safely make 135lbs (if he cut as much body weight % as Islam), then it's a pretty poor showing for Islam

@@ali-mk4of Cejudo did, but Rogan said on his podcast with Masvidal over a month after the fight that he's watched it over and over and still thinks Volk won rounds 2, 3 and 5, just as Masvidal agreed with him on damage that Volk wins those rounds

@Dantes230 dude watch the breakdowns closely and see who did more damage. Round 2 - Volk wobbled Round 3 - Volk was bleeding on the cut at the last minute (watch how it was patched up in the corner after round 3) Round 5 - Impossible to be 10-8, Islam was winning 4 minutes of that fight. Volk was even bleeding. Volk only had his moment last minute. Better watch round per round breakdowns and you'll see why.

@Dantes230 round 5 makhacev won for first 3 minute because he made volks left eyebrow become bleed because makhacev give knee to volks face and last 2 minute in round 5 volks won with knocked makhacev down and with GNP to makhacev BUT dont forget so many times he missed a lot GNP (there is moment volks hit makhacev hands because makhacev blocking with his hands also there is moment volks hit canvas when he do GNP to makhacev) so volks won round 5 for 10-9 not 10-8 not even close because 10-8 situation IF volks totally domination bully makhacev and makhacev did not nothing, so you clearly clueless about how to score in mma

theres definitely a fan and media bias when it comes to ckb and freestyle gym. like rewatch the izzy jan fight, commentators completely ignored the work jan did on feet and only talked about izzys feints.

@bobzen , its also because people underestimated Volk too much and when they see Volk wasn't finished like Oliveira they are too impressed and become biased, but for people who are not casuals knew it was going to be a harder fight than Oliveira because: 1- Volk has much better fight IQ (Khabib said this as well), striking defense and striking speed than Oliveira. And also we see in Ortega fight Volk's submission defense is very good as well. 2- Volk has more experience especially in 5 rounds championship fights compared to others (Oliveira never even fought 5 rounds), if I remember correctly Volk never lost 4th and 5th rounds vs Holloway and Ortega, his cardio is one of the best, only Makhachev beat him in 4th round for the first time.
