So very sad just 3cdays ago made it 17 years ago Renaldo ( Obie) Benson passed on July 1st I remember hearing this very sad news on the radio as well as TV, my heart broke I missed him then & it still the same today RIP you sweet man you are so very missed, as well as Levi & Lawrence, so very sad, 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤❤ I miss hearing your beautiful voices...... with much love....Dee

He was just so different than everybody else. This song seems simple for the bass but you’d be shocked at how man professional bass players can’t play it without bending their minds around Jamersons odd way of hearing music. His note selection…. He’s the only one that would even think about playing a line like he does. He’s the father of the fender bass and the greatest bassist that ever walked the earth!

I've just put together a medley of Pops from the Tops: first song was "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" and the second song was "It's the same Old Song"...,AND THEN IT HIT ME....,"Same Old Song" is the reverse of "Sugar Pie" - listen to them...,it was intentional and soooooooo tricky - one of the cleverest song ideas from the 60's...,Lamont Dozier - savvy genius
