I push my ironing board with a "big board" on top up next to my stationary table to give me extra flat space to hold my quilt while I'm sewing.

I really like videos that feature Kelly as I learn so much from her. She is an expert quilter! I would love to see some videos where Kelly shows us how she decides what to quilt and how she combines motifs combine motifs

Great tips for borders. I have seen and used paper for borders but am pleased to see the elastic and board method. Not everything has to be high tech. Good visuals for learning. Your classes must be great.

Good tips.. always a challenge, the math and the area needed to come out even..Love that starting from the edge and using different design maybe an overlap! Beautiful pink on black and turquoise good too!

I’ve used the marked elastic trick in dressmaking for spacing buttonholes and pleats, never thought to scale up the length of the elastic to fit quilt borders! What an awesome idea!

Great video and tips. Thanks for stitching on a stationary machine. I quilt on a Sweet Sixteen and have found that when using rulers they will often rock. The throat plate of machine and the table mat are not the same height. Is there a work around to remedy the problem?

There is a workaround. Give your local retailer or Handi Quilter a call and they can tell you the suggested workaround.

I tried practicing my various rulers on broadcloth sandwich squares. I found the rulers did not grip the same way as on the quilt cotton. I used the same grips under the rulers yet the rulers moved. Broadcloth is thinner than cotton. I will wash and add some light stiffener to see if that changes things.

Thanks for demonstrating on the Capri. I would have like to have seen more time spent on in it. For example were you using precision or cruise mode? Needle up or down? What stitch length did you use?

How do you know how much to stretch your elastic. I like this idea a lot.

  • @HandiQuilter

Stretch it so that it fits the length of the quilt top section you want to divide. I usually put the elastic down, pin on end and then stretch until I have a good number of repeats that I am happy with. You stretch more or less depending on how many repeats you want in that section.

I suggest you reshoot the video with scripted wording so it isn't so confusing.
