I’ll humbly add a fifth suggestion. Get a stack of journals (perhaps the amazonbasics version of a moleskine hardback) and determine to write a daily journal. Fill the pages up with your daily happenings as well as serious thoughts and reflections. I’ve got almost four years worth now, and it is nice sometimes to glance back at how I felt in a particular situation. You’ll forget about things that seemed to be the end of the world. You’ll be reminded of blessing you’d forgotten. And, when you die your family will cherish them dearly.

Thank you so much for the suggestion, Brother/Pastor Walker.

Whoah, Pastor Matt, haha, i thought i lost this video. I was trying to find the content where you discuss how you wished that you kept a journal of categorized illustrations. You have been incredibly instrumental in this layperson's life in so so many ways, not the least of which are organization, critical thinking, biblical insight and all around passion for doing the work of a devout follower of Christ. You will never know this side of heaven just how much of an impact all of your content is having in our lives. You are a light, and a true gem and for that we love you. Hope to have the privilege of meeting you in person one day. Blessings to you my friend, in Christ 🙏 P.S. would you be willing to share the process of your beard-themed thumbnails, they are some of the best I've ever seen and ive been in the local business marketing space for a couple decades...they are humorous, and very eye catching. Thank you again.

Have you ever done a video on how to record illustrations? How you organise them so you can find them, how you come up with them, how you write them out etc? Would love to see a deep dive on this topic. Haven't been able to find much. I know Spurgeon was big on using illustrations, but have been able to find much in the way of a how to.

Awesome brother. Just a couple months ago I started using the NASB Single Column Reference Wide Margin (SCR WM). I like it cause it is verse by verse as well as Wide Margin. I wish I had known about that several years ago. If I can get a Cambridge Wide Margin that is verse by verse in NASB or ESV, I would buy it.

I am 64 and will never be a Pastor, though that might have been my calling. I send emails to myself not only with links but also copy and paste the contents in case the links die. I am as paperless as I can be, yet your points are well taken. Preserve everything for yourself, your family and future generations.

Hi Matt. Thanks for your video. I do much on the computer and software. For example, I do all my exegetical work with BibleWorks for Hebrew, Greek, Latin, etc. All of these works and outlines over the many years I have kept soft copies organized within the folder structure on my hard drive, which can backed up (father / grandfather) and even use the "the cloud". Have you looked at any of these softer methods for your own study practices?

Good night! not know if the book "The Bible commentary by the Fathers of the Church" published in several volumes by the Spanish publishing Ciudad Nueva. If you know her, I would like to know what you think of that work? I also wanted to ask you if you think it is appropriate to study the Bible following the comments of the Fathers of the Church, just as the Spanish publisher Biblioteca de Autores Cristianos (BAC) also publishes them. Thank you very much for your attention, I remain attentive to your comments!

I am a young pastor who studies Greek and it is both more important and less important than many lead on. When I use the greek with little knowledge of it, I run the risk of having to back track to correct myself later. But when you know it well enough with greater comprehension you can really get to the heart of a passage quickly in your studies and avoid a lot of foolish interpretations that may arise out of ignorance of the greek. I am still learning a lot and I have to be careful that my study doesn't override my worship. This is my own limited experience with it. Sorry I can't give you a greater scope on greeks usefulness in long term ministry.

So what would you suggest for someone who uses a translation that doesn’t have a wide margin out there. For example I use the CSB which currently doesn’t have a wide margin on the market and as soon as they do I’ll be getting one but what do you suggest in the mean time? Thanks for your time love the videos

@cindybin2001 Cindy, I'm afraid the LDS church does not believe the the gospel, trinity, or that there is only one God. That is dangerous to claim they share doctrine with the teachings of Jesus
