Just a 2D version of Sussy Schoolgrounds anyway.
I love how Polymars was so drastrictly different to the others in terms of the speed of understanding for the Sundail game.
Lmao I like the edit of polymars realizing how to switch inventory and then miz complaining about not being able to switch inventory. 6:23

Also shows to what sort of games they play lol, scrolling the wheel would have been right up there with one of the first things I would have tried

I loved Polymarts' positivity as a through line. My guy was just vibing and happy to be playing and making games.

Polymars's energy is totally infectious!
The calendar game seems really cool. I would love a game like that with more events to predict, longer cycles and an element of randomization for replay value, say the length of a year, the offset for eclipses and what not changing with each playthrough.

It would be cool to make calendars for various planets. You could have different numbers of moons and orbits set by random mathematical sequences to make the game dynamic. I want something like this playable on the Steam Deck.

Agreed. I'd love to see something like this fleshed out into a full game. It's the perfect balance of peaceful and puzzling.
@essigautomat

Agreed, but this could get really, really hard if you start with real orbits with inclanations, and other great cycles, noise from other random objects, sunspots, maybe upgrade your observatory? This conzept is great
Polymars is a born astronomer. It's their calling.
Polymars just having a great time no matter what hes playing is awesome
The astronomer game is really cool, but I think it lacks an incentive. Maybe by tying the predictions to the actions of a community? Like the people in a town will plant their crops based on your prediction, and if they plant too early/late, the harvest isn't successful. Maybe religious events for the eclipse? It's a really neat concept, and I'd love to see it fleshed out more!

Yeah I was thinking of those things exactly, but I thought it would take too long to implement for a jam game so I cut it down to what you see
Thank you guys for using my asset pack! Cool episode! Keep it up :D
love how different each of the games looked this time around despite all using the same graphical assets
Its been so long.... happy to see this series again.

It is fantastic and quite unique but it is like, part of a lineage. I'm not saying that to be annoying or diminish his creation, I'm just saying there's been stuff sort of similar to it before that probably inspired its creation. TAS smash fights and Toribash
@BraxonGG

@@ZedAmadeus it's not a "probably", he straight up cited those as inspirations for the game, along with the classic newgrounds stickfight animations lol It's still pretty unique, heck if anything it's been the most unique fg take in a while

my eacts thoughts upon recognizing the fact
Bro, I would have been so lost in the sundial game haha
The editing was phenomenal. Getting everyone's opinions on the different games to line up like that was a great choice. I love how every single dev took their game in a different direction. It's awesome how something as simple as a sundial, or food was able to inspire entire games.
omfg you guys are so smart and fun I really had a good chuckle right there, miziziziz concept was insane.
brilliantly done to all the devs, usually I'd have some feedback for the games but they were all great especially in the time they had! The only main feedback would be for polymars' cheese game. while I understand he was learning the engine under a short time constraint but he could have either added noise to indicate the mouse distance, or make the spotlight slightly bigger than it was. my guess is that he memorised the maze and didn't take that into account when playtesting
when the cheese/mouse dev said he made just a big black box with a hole in it my first thought was: oh someones gonna see the edges of that box :D
With this particular artkit I thought all the games are gonna look very similar, and some have similar gameplay. I was glad to be completely wrong.
8:32 "no idea what he's supposed to be" It's a mimic chest!
I'm always impressed with the amount of effort that goes into these videos. The gamejam alone is a large time commitment, organising 3 other people to do it is no small effort and then making a video on top of it. It's like at minimum 60 hours of effort per video.
Polymars seems to be such a great and brilliant person!! Showed so much love and happiness all the time!!

Also respecting and enjoying the others work.
miziziziz's game was insanely creative
I missed this series, I'm happy it's back
Man, I still love this series. Also, I can't believe you got Ivy Sly, the creator of Your Only Move Is Hustle (YOMI Hustle), to participate in this jam. This is really awesome!
This playlist helped me get into in game development, it's nice to finally see a new episode, it's been a while
so stoked. i was binging these the other month and got so sad when i realized the most recent one had been two years ago.
It would be a cool concept to have the devs guess what other dev made each game
The sundial game is awesome, it's so cool to see unique ideas like that work!
I love this series so much. I prefer it to the "make a game with no communication" because you actually get to see several different visions and what you can do with a simple art pack.
The rat and cheese game needs line of sight visuals, so that you can only see something if you have line of sight
This is the best game jam series on KZread, period
Yay! My fav game dev series! Its been a while since i watched one of these, but i loved all the creativity in this one! Stellar work all around!
What a stacked line up of devs!
ivy sly's game gives me real Mosa Lina vibes in terms of the esoteric "item" mechanics, and the surreal nothing-scape it takes place in.

I love that game and I had a long conversation with the developer of it recently. So you might have clocked me big time...
this series is always so cool, love to see more! it's fascinating seeing the different directions that different devs will go in
Using the tile descriptions is such a fantastic and clever way of using the art kit, never would've thought of something like that
The vibes of this video and of all of those involved is just heartwarming. Both on a human level but also as far as what "gaming culture" can be... Congrats to all the participant and thank you Miz for doing stuff like that.
Normally, you - the player, cheeses the game. In Witch Wok, the game cheeses you. Brilliant Jam, as per usual for the channel.

And in Cheese Chase, the game cheese is you.
I love this series so much! Everyone had such different and unique approaches to this, it was great to watch!
Ive missed these so much
Polymars has an infectious personality.
all four games are very creative! I can see them becoming a full length game, easily
Would be more interesting to see 4 devs make a game with the same basic concept and see what they come up with
Getting Rittzler on was a great idea. I love his work.
Glad to see more of these!
So cool to see this series back!🎉
Really like it more then the others... bussines suits type of jams.
So glad to have this series back! Very fun instalment.
This is such a good format for things, it's nice seeing y'all get back to doing it
These are so good and I am so happy to see a new one. Please keep making these 🙏🏻
This is a great series, and I'm glad to see it back! As always, this is incredibly inspiring and fun to see what the developers come up with. I just purchased the art pack and will try the challenge in 48 non-linear hours (or perhaps a little more).
you're back🎉
The sundial game is amazing wthhhh the way you thought of the idea and executed it is rlly inspiring aaaaa
So glad to get another episode of this series! Lots of diverse asset usage here!
I have a proposal for your next horror game if u want to make one again. A coop game where you solve tasks while separated from each other and you communicate via text to solve these tasks. Only problem is that if a creature kills your friend he takes over his body and communication device. So the creature pretends like it's your friend till it kills u (in the meanwhile it can make ü help him setup for the next kills). The texting could be done using a simple open source llm. Would be great to know what you think. I'd say it's difficult to go more uncanny
Great to see these come back - absolutely love this concept
New Miziziziz video lets gooo!!
your game dev process is always so inspiring
That was a very interesting variation of all projects submitted. Loved the video!
How am I just now seeing this??? 😢 Glad to see another entry in this series!
I absolutely love the first game! Would be awesome if it just got expanded a little with more ingredients!
Nice to see this series come back!

how the f did Ivy make such an insane game in so little time, I feel it would sell pretty well with a decent price
had an oh snap moment when i remembered rittzler developed pseudoregalia, damn that's cool
I can't wait! Oh, i was wondering when the endoparasitic 2 will come out. I just loved how the story goes!
YES. I missed this series! Almost made me a game dev!
Subscribed! This was so fun!
I love these artkit jams!
Miz: "I created a very simple world simulation" *creates an entire universe
I kinda felt all that existential crisis at the end of the video, though it was awesome:D
Love this series!
Love the episode! Thanks so much to all
Sundail game could loop indefinitately for background. But time is recorded and scored when everything is guessed correctly.
we are so back
The cheese stands alone!
I love this series! So glad theres another video!!!
Amazing video, that give me the envy to try to start for the third time programming.
Seeing IVY slide in one of your videos made me extremely happy ❤
the music in the final game was so overlooked but that one piano chord hit really hard
So much game design innovation in one video. I'm honestly super impressed
Hey Miz, not sure if you'll see this, but have you ever considered contacting the creator of an asset pack and having them play/react to the games y'all make in this kind of challenge? I think it'd be a really cool idea when you play each others' games to *also* have the asset pack creator come on and see some of the stuff made with their pack!
i love the fact polymars accidentally made reverse Radar Rat Race from the VIC20
Missed this series
The Astronomy game was so much fun I wish there was more. Of course its essentially a game jam game and you probably wont touch it again but if you decide to expand on it, maybe you could introduce randomness to vary the seasons, day/night cycle, and solstices and such so that every playthrough has you forming a unique calendar. You already do that with the offset eclipses. Maybe you could add additional astrological events you can predict like meteor showers and lunar eclipses and such. Idk I just really like the concept I'm really into those kinds of games.
I know these people are commercial game devs but still, thinking of attempting this jam I'd probably spend the first thirty hours thinking of a decent concept and then attempting to set up a movement controller for the rest. Incredible work
I loved Celestial Clockwork! Such a novel idea and executed so cleanly.
Love these jams!
I like how differently all contestants think.
Polymarts with the positive vibe Damn, it has been a while. bro must just make it a monthly thing
oh finally another one, ive been waiting so long
What a crazy high concept for a game. I have to try it.
Rittzler has some banger lines "So this is like Slender if it was blood and cheese instead" and "All in like 2 decades work" kill me
Yeah, legendary series is back!
