hope you're aware of the very reasonably priced Viltrox 27 f/1.2 & 75 f/1.2 apsc lenses 😅

I've had mine for almost 2 years now. It is the champion for sure. I really fell in love with this lens after upgrading from 6400 to FX-30. Feels so great that it covers 95% of your needs and can be efficient for all day shoots.

Thanks for the video comparison I thought it worked out well and your explanation and demonstrations. I've had mine now for about 6 to 7 weeks and it certainly has a great generalist approach as well as working well for my event stuff and interviews. ✌🏾📸

Very nice lens! I have been working with the 16-35 f2.8 gmaster and 35-150 f2-2.8 Tamron. I sort of need a smaller and lighter lens for my A7SIII. Great video! I loved seeing your BTS of Tokyo!

Almost got this but ended up getting the Tamron 11-20 and Tamron 28-75 for the extra range on both ends. (17mm on APSC sometimes isn’t wide enough for my uses)

That's my main lens for my fx30 too, and this lens is very good, i haven't found a good small gimball for this settings but that could be a good solution for the small problem of stab' 👌Need to try it too in low light 👌

you should test the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 and compare it to Tamron 17-70 F2.8

Thanks for keeping my request; !! 🤍 Here's one more video idea to work on: The Sony Lineup is really extensive and often baffling for beginners. An introduction of these lineups (like A7R, A7S, A7M, A7C, FX, A1, etc.) would really help out a large number of beginner audiences (lime me LMAO😂)

This lens on the Sony A74 in crop mode is impeccable

This is going to be my main lens for my fs5. I've been using the fs5 a run and gun. Only thing I was missing was a zoom lens. Been shooting on primes for a long time now

Yup. I have the lens, too. Its great. Everyone goes on and on about the Sigma 18-50mm, and people really sleeping on Tamron. Sharp at f/2.8, mad sharp at f/4

One thing I didn't like this lens is low light AF performance... Sometimes is hard to focus. I sold this lens most for the weight and size(now I have Sigma 18-50mm) but I miss the wide range (17-70mm)

I kinda wish I hadn't sold mine so soon to play around with it a bit more, and it would have been interesting to try it with the a6700 that I ordered. Though I'm happy with my Sigma 18-50

I got the Sigma 18-50 as well, a light weight is super important to me. I pair it with a Tameron 11-20 and a Sigma 56mm prime.

Thanks for the video. Today I bought a Tamron 17-70 for my Fujifilm X-S20 🙃 Long decision making. I even had already purchased the phenomenal Fujinon 16-55 f2.8, which I returned after one day. 😄 I am curious about this glass.

I just ordered the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 and now I'm wondering if I should return that and get this lens instead? Do you think the Sigma lens does a better job at stabilizing the footage while walking? Or is it about the same? Thanks for another fun review! Your haircut looks great, but I like the long hair too😁

The Sigma 18-50 doesn't have stabilization. It's not wide enough and doesn't reach as much as the Tamron. It's only advantages are sharpness and size. But if you prefer both of those things, then get the prime lenses instead.

I think I was one of those who bugged you about this lens. Glad you liked it. Enjoy!

I always thought to have that lens or the sigma 16 - 35 1.8 and the 50 - 150 1.8. If I can pick only one lens, it would be the tamron, but if I can choose, I would rather pick the sigmas

Hi bro, I'm about to do product photography and wish to do portrait too but confused on which one to get either sigma 18-50 or tamron 17-70... I'm using sony a7iii for now and some said tamron 17-70 has image stabilisation and doesn't work well with sony a7iii which is also include stabilisation..please help me 😢

Don't use IBIS of the camera as Tamron had VC. Do this and you will be good to go. if you will go with Sigma y'll miss that extra range at the telephoto end. I'll suggest, go with Tamron.

Not really a good lens for the FX30. The VC can't be turned off and sometimes goes nuts. You cant zoom quickly without the image turning to jello. The AF sometimes turns to MF when you use clear zoom and you have to reboot the camera to get AF back. And I know this is subjective but I just don't find the image exciting.

I agree, I got it when it first released. It was still cheaper than a used Sony 16-55 at the time. It’s great for photos and decent for video till you move or zoom. I wish it was par focal.

8:31 your calculation is wrong. 17mm x1.5 apsc crop x 1.2 active steadyshot crop = 30.5mm full frame equivalent.

so if use on fx30 at 120 FPS its not a good lens?

I assume that the image will be too cropped, if u want shoot at 100/120 fps - better to choose lenses with less mm

I bought the tamron few months ago. The autofocus + zoom on my sony fx30 is terrible, unusable. If you use it fixed all good, as soon as you touch the zoom it destroy the image. For most of the people it's a minor problem but it's there. Never had the same problem with a sony lens.
