Hi Guys, the coins near the end that had numbers punched out are scrip that the mining companies paid their miners with & could only be used in the company stores. The mines were usually in remote areas and the miners were forced to buy at inflated prices at the company stores. As the song goes, I owe my sole to the company store. They are highly sought after by scrip collectors and mining collectors. I used to sell them on Ebay. Do auctions on them not buy it nows. Lots usually do well too. Great find.

As a Canadian seeing that old money is amazing, most money you find today is post 1980s , what your holding is Canadian Heritage, these are so hard to find and worth quite alot.

I don't know if it's super valuable. We have an old dollar with King George on it and it was valued at like $2 lol but would be nice to see these in the museum.

It certainly looks like a real 1921 Silver Morgan dollar. I wouldn't be able to know for sure unless i saw it in person. Great find guys

The punched tokens might be charity coins. Churches used to issue them to poor people that were supported. The token had to be put in the collections bag during service to prove the receipient attended church. When the token was found in the bag, the family issued that number got another week of support.

We moved to Reno, Nevada in 1960. We rarely saw dollar bills then. Everyone used silver dollars. After a few years, the secretary of the treasury said on the news that silver dollars were becoming rare. Within a couple of days, no more silver dollars were in circulation. Slot machines had to be refitted to accept two 50 cent pieces. Couldn't believe we used to have pocketsful of silver dollars new and really old from all the different mints, too.

It's a Morgan, they were once melted down for ammo during the war...Used when playing poker in the old days.. Good year, QUIT touching them with your hands, as it lowers the value, cuz of oils on your hands...

The punched coins were from company stores here in WV. Coal miners were paid in company script, spent in company stores.

Even though the old money indicates copies, they are amazing examples of money when each bank printed their own currency. Collectors would want those. The silver dollar looked like a liberty silver dollar. Great finds!

Yes, the big coin is a Morgan Silver dollar. The Carson City Morgans are the most valuable. If you see on the back of the coin "cc" it's a Carson City Morgan and I think they go for around $35 to $50 depending on the condition. A normal Morgan Silver dollar is worth about $25 depending on condition.

Hopefully you patiently held on to everything and educated yourself thoroughly before cashing in. There is a lot of value there. Some not worth cashing in. Choose wisdom over instant gratification. This is an exciting find.

To add to your story about the 1943 cents....not only did they make some in 1943 out of copper, but the next year, they made the opposite mistake with some 1944's being made out of steel. Any time there is a transition from one metal to another there are some mistake made, they even made some accidentally out of silver dime planchets as well. Another neat thing is in 1944, blank planchets of the 1943 steel cent were used for minting the Belgium 1944 2 franc coin.

That dime with the wing like back of the head is a MERCURY dime.

The 1982 penny could be worth 18-30k if it’s the right one.

The Bills Are Star Note, They Are Replaced Notes, When They Fine A Mistake, They Replace Them With Star Notes.

32:09 the star notes are created because of a mistake made in production. As law requires no note can have the same number on it the star is put on at end of serial number so no duplicate is created in production run..... check website for how rare those notes are. Star notes are worth more than face value. Value depends on how rare.

Thje king edward coins are from canada... I have many of those 1 - 2 dollars bills + 20's they are old, and hard to find....but the one thats worth the most is the $3 dollar bill

Except for the star notes the numismatic stuff is mostly junk. The 1921 dollar is worth melt, the foreign coins are probably junk unless you enjoy looking them all up because you're actually interested, or they're silver. The 1909 is sterling like all GB silver issues until about 1920. The slightest ding to a corner of those star notes will reduce their value, handle them with care. They aren't really numismatically collectible but there are people that buy coins because of the pretty rainbow colors on them, so... The mint sets and proof set are of minimal value unless you find an error or variety. CoinHELPu's youtube channel has links to his web page that has various resources for collectors &/or stackers. Me, I just like cool coins. They're one thing humanity has produced that lasts a very long time and represent countless others having handled what you're handling as much as 2,000 years later. I have widow's mites from Palestine still caked with dirt, how cool is that? And they're really cheap, they made millions of them and they're only lead.

I've never used storage, but if I did I would expect the storage company to follow up with lessor contacts and find out why the bin was abandoned. It would be of interest to bidders to know why they are having a windfall.

@@smokingcrab2290 storage units have been abandoned with hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash in the past. Dont think people abandoned them because they chose to. Think kidnapping, jail, death, loss of life in the family which might've led to travel and depression which led to a lapse, etc... In most cases these items belong to a loved one who took care of everything who passed away abruptly. Like a murder or a car accident, etc. These are things the family and the person "killed" would like to stay within the family. Maybe even given to their children if they had any. A lot if people 30-40 arent expecting to drop dead at any moment but it happens multiple times a day in the US alone.

Ummmm..... Jeremy, & George those bills are more valuable than face value. They were in that safe for a collectible value rather than face value. In other words, they are worth more than face value. A coin shop would buy them, or you could eBay them.

The Pence is from this country..England, it's the new currency that we started using in 1972, the early coinage used to have "new pence" on them, but was later changed to just "pence", unless you have a 1983 "new pence" 2p coin they are only worth face value.

I always hope to see our jewellery. They rob our house and took our memories. We went to lots of pawn shops to find my bracelet with 23charms on it in 14k gold. And our weddingrings. Since 1 year we have new weddingrings but that is not us after 46 years of marriage. They took all coin collection from my husband. He collected since he was 4years old. Its so sad to miss all are memories. Even the Dutch flag. And cd from my moms funeral in Netherlands. 😪

The coins with the numbers are script from the mines. That's how they were payed and you could only be spent at New River Company Stores. They are collectable. I live about 5 miles from Minden W.Va. 30:38. Love your channel

Usually worth about $100. If the serial numbers are concurrent it would add some value.

The coins with the numbers stamped out of them are possibly "Company scrip" and being that they are from West Virginia, the company was probably a coal mine. The Canadian paper money you found is a mix of old and "new" 1's and 2's and I think I saw some 5's as well ...our NEW money does feel like plastic (it's actually a polymer" and we don't have 1 and 2 dollar bills anymore, we have coins, a $1 coin is called a "Jeremy" ( actually a Loony,but it's kinda the same...lmao) and the $2 coin is a Toony...there is talk that by 2022 we may also have a $5 coin...I think they should call it the #Moosehead...nice find guys, oh ya,btw...the King on the silver .50 cent pieces is King Edward.

It was a form of private currency issued by coal companies and used to pay the coal miners and other employees at the mines. Depending on which mine it is from some of those scrip coins can be worth quite a good bit.

There was one that is surely a gold coin. The big blackish silver is called a Morgan. What you found is a treasure of history. The paper money is well kept. The coins are high in value especially with errors. Plus somehow only a few were minted. Best way to sell them is through auction. You will gain bigger. Check the serial numbers with star notes, is a biggy.

24:00 There were around 40ish copper 1943 cents found to have been minted and 40 of them already have a home so the odds are that all of them are found. However... there is always a chance one more still exists. Good luck with finding one. :)
