Fortune Town Electronics Mall In Bangkok

Here's a few links for my favorite credit cards. I try to check the links often, but let me know if there is a problem. If they change the offer on the card, I may need to update the link. Full disclosure, I get a few airline miles for referring a new customer. You should get the same public offer at no additional cost. Thank you very much.

    You may enjoy a trip out to Papaya Design & Furniture > maybe a 25-30 min drive from BKK City Center > if you're into collectables...4-5 stories stuffed with all sorts of stuff from Circa Decades ago > heard they were gonna be opening up a restaurant/food court when I was last there in September > an easy 1-2 hrs spent there...for me anyway... thought was definitely worth the trip.

    If your credit card has a WiFi symbol, you can use it in any MRT station (will not work in BTS). That will save your time falling in line

  • @EagerExpat

    @EagerExpat

    5 ай бұрын

    I know that works on the Blue MRT. I was told WiFi doesn't work on every MRT line. I believe the new Yellow MRT even takes the BTS Rabbit card. Each line is owned by a different company that have their own pay policy. Hopefully, someday it will all be WiFi everywhere. It's getting close today.

    It's the contactless symbol, not the wifi symbol

  • @EagerExpat

    @EagerExpat

    5 ай бұрын

    @hj Nope it means WiFi. Or wireless fidelity. Contactless became a word 2 years ago. WiFi and that symbol have been around since 1997. True, it's contactless, but you still need the chip in the credit card and a WiFi signal to work. Or in many places you can use the WiFi signal on your cell phone. The same symbol is shown on the phone when using WiFi. The same WiFi symbol on the MRT gate. That radar wave looking symbol has always meant WiFi.

    @@EagerExpat not really. the wifi symbol has 3 arches and a dot, the contactless symbol has 4 arches.

  • @EagerExpat

    @@SaverioMurgia I'm probably wrong. Won't be the first time. Ha Ha. I think the newer contactless is a low freq NFD signal rather than full on Wi-Fi. Either way, it's better than using cash

    No, I don't know it that well. But, I'm sure it won't be a problem. I showed every floor. You should have an idea what floor it might be on. Maybe the 4th where all the record stores were? I'm positive you can find it there.

    Did you by any chance see how much the Galaxy S24 Ultra is going for at Fortune Town? I balked at the 50,000 baht price tag, which is what they are asking for at EmQuartier Samsung store.

  • @EagerExpat

    @EagerExpat

    5 ай бұрын

    I think it's the same price at any Samsung shop. You might get a good deal on the S23 or S22 at Fortune, but new phones are a set price. Of course if you agree to the 1200b monthly plan, they will cut down the sticker price. In the end, it's the same cost. I think I paid 48K for the S22 Ultra 2 years ago. Phones seem to cost about 15% to 20% more than the US. Probably an import tax?

    I'm all for competition, but it's the same in the US. There used to be five big companies and T-Mobile and Verizon bought everyone up. Hopefully, unlike the US my cell phone isn't $60 anytime soon.

    Wow vinyls are expensive. Would you sy electronic prices are lower, higher, or about the same to the US?

  • @EagerExpat

    @EagerExpat

    5 ай бұрын

    Vinyl comes at a premium price. I would say electronics are about 20% more than the US. Sometimes my KZread messages vanish. It's best to start a fresh thread. If you answer this message, I get the response about 50% of the time. Maybe a glitch in the system. Someone, I thought might have been you, offered to carry over some small thing I might need from the US. If that was you, I saw the message on the train. When I got home, it was gone. Again, if that was you, thanks very much, but I don't need anything. I try to answer all comments, but it's hard when KZread deletes the thread.

    i went to MBK found mostly scammer selling cheap products... Is this mall trustable?

  • @EagerExpat

    @EagerExpat

    4 ай бұрын

    It's the place to go for cheap and fake products. They're not really scams. It's just a place for haggling and "real" $50 Rolex watches. If you want trustable, you need to go to Siam Paragon. That's all real stuff. Nike's at MBK $15 US, at Paragon $115 US. One is real and the other is a fake. Up to you.
