Wouldn't Glory make more sense for the name of victory points and Fortune for currency?

I always said the same thing. lol It's what they went with, though. :-)

Yes. It almost feels like a mistranslation.

The way I have always interpreted this, is when you're watching those pulp adventure stories, the treasures are never exchanged for services. Instead people supply the hero with rides and items because of the weight of their name. My favorite example is every episode of Kim Possible had Kim calling in a favor from someone we've never seen before and they would just say "I owe you for helping me out back in Tierra Del Fuego!" Or something like that

Absolutely, said this the first time I played the original. It makes no sense the way it is. 😅
Flying Frog games are all about creating those fun narrative moments during gameplay for me. I have enjoyed their games but tend to play a bit loose on the rules. We kind of make choices on the fly without referring back to rules in order to keep the narrative flowing.
I just got this and was hoping that it played the way you just described. Great review, thank you!
When I first got into gaming I bonded myself quickly to these Flying Frog games and loved the unique themes and srt style of the games! Its been years since I have played any of their games because my tastes uave changed but I absolutely treasure my memories playing this game and this review brought me so much joy! Thank you!
Great overview. I played this with my nephew and really enjoyed the theme. Now I own the revised addition. This is one where you just need to dive into the theme and enjoy those moments. Thanks, Joey!
Hey Joey, Geno here. Good to see the Flying Frog stuff coming up on the channel. I enjoy a lot of their stuff. Great review, btw.
I've always wanted to try this game! It looks and sounds like a lot of fun.
Damn, this sounds fun but at $100 for the base game + $150 for shipping it's a non-starter for me.
Thank you for the review Joey! Love the game. So great this got a reprint and slightly revised version so more people can enjoy it. I was hoping for a tad more because if you own the old version the changes are just too minor to warrant rebuying it. Would have loved a bit of fluff text on a few cards that have a lot of empty space ^^ Hope they will reprint the expansions. A new expansion would even be better and something I would definitly get :D
I wonder if the release of this new version of the game will finally bring about the two expansions they announced and even offered for pre-order YEARS ago and then they went vaporware and never came to be. For years, it felt like all they were supporting was Shadows of Brimstone. Personally, I just wanted more Fortune & Glory! :-D

Unfortunately, no. I spoke with the creators at Gencon last year. They said that after the pandemic, many of the people that they photographed for the expansions are no longer available to finish the shoot. They would have to hire all new models, create new costumes for the models, re-shoot what they already did, as well as the stuff they didn't get to when the world shut down. They just haven't publicly stated this, probably afraid of a backlash.

@@jayeckberg774 Boo! That's a real shame. Those expansions were promoted and even offered for pre-sale for some time prior to the pandemic, so it is a shame they weren't truly ready already by that point. I remember debating pre-ordering them and then figuring I would just wait for a proper release due to other pre-order items burning in me in the past. lol I guess I am glad I held off. heh Thanks for this information... despite it being disappointing information.

What are the names of the phantom expansions?
Actually, it costs Fortune to fly between cities, however Jake Zane who is a pilot can use Glory (Fame) to pay for the flight. Gear and Allies are attracted by the Glory (Fame), however you need to pay Fortune to buy common items. It is a confusing a bit.
As someone who loves this very thematic game, I wish someone was on to do a comparison. Would have loved to have seen thoughts on a new comer and a veteran
Yes it was pictures of Flying Frog staff in costumes. It is nice to see them doing something different from their Shadows of Brimstone but I have the big box version so what is the big difference other than a smaller box.
@Keldroc

While some of the staff appears in the pictures, most of the pictures are of actors cast for the roles. As for the differences, they're pretty minor and mostly a downgrade, I'd say. The plastic fortune and glory tokens are cardboard now, although the five pieces are much bigger to make telling the difference easier. The card stock is a little thinner, but not super noticeable. The board is six segments instead of four, probably to accommodate the smaller box. All the tokens are flat, no longer glossy like Flying Frog's tokens usually are - this makes mixing this set with the old expansions a little jarring if that difference is noticeable to you. The text on the Adventure cards is...maybe a little bigger? Mostly just looks formatted a little differently. Characters have Health instead of Wounds on their cards now. And most of the swastikas are replaced with stylized eagles, which is an understandable change. If you want no swastikas in the game, unfortunately the backs of the Nazi Enemies cards still have the swastika (to match the old expansions' card backs), and there is still a swastika on the Berlin city space on the board.
Hy,i own the first version of the game but i also want the revised edition.Should i keep both or just take the revised edition? What do you think?
My favorite game. Glad to see it reprinted for others to enjoy! :D
Looks like the box is more compact. I have the original and the box is very long and hard to fit on the shelf. Kind of like the old Risk boxes, where you have a map of the world with only one fold, so the box has to be big just to fit the board.
I was at Comicon one year and Flying Frog had a booth. It was cool to see Shadows of Brimstone and A Touch of Evil but I said 'Didn't you guys also make that Indiana Jones game...?' The guy at the booth immediately said 'Fortune and Glory! Yeah, we're working on reprinting that. Everyone asks!'
Had the original. Fun game overall. If humid, that finish can make cards stick together.
I have had this game since it first came out. It is my number 2 game (After Firefly). I'm not sure what they changed in revised besides removing the swastikas. Every new review and playthough has the same rules I am firmiliar with. The negatives of the game are the card stock, but sleeving takes care of that and the rule book is a mess. But BGG has more than a few files that help with that. I'm glad this is getting highlighted again as when it came out, it seemed to be really overlooked.

I think the glossary is new... which is a nice improvement. Also, the original game had plastic coins for the fortune and the glory. The box size is also different. Not sure what else is different at a glance.

Nazi's without Swastikas are not Nazi's so looks like I am keeping my big box edition and never getting this.

I'm glad I'm not the only one confused about what's different. It pretty much seemed identical except for some graphic and component differences.

@@e-manr.486 Someone on BGG compiled a list of differences on cards. I think 6 cards have differences on them. I keep seeing updated temple collapse rules being mentioned, but when they explain how a temple collapses, it's seems to be the exact same way. I'll have to download the new rulebook and see about it. If there are card changes, it would be nice to get an "update pack" for a minimal fee.
This game is super fun
I still have my loaded up copy of Last Night on Earth, it's an absolutely silly game but I enjoy it. Fun litle touches on the components and art as well, like flavor text on every card. Flying Frog was basically making Kickstarter games before crowdfunding was a thing.
I love this game. Been too long since I played it
Wow, this world map looks super messed up. Distractingly so
There is a TableTop episode on KZread about this game, but Wil Wheaton even admits they messed up the rules quite a bit. I want to play it very badly, but I don't have 80 dollars to spend on it.
