I love seeing more simple games higher on people’s lists. Sometimes I feel like board game rankings only include the complex games. Those can be great.. but often don’t hit tables

Complex doesn’t mean better and that’s what used to irritate me about top lists of years past. Nothing but heavy euros I would never play in a million years at the top. And also by the time you could get them at a decent price they would say “this NEW game not yet for sale has completely replaced that game you just finally bought. It’s SOOOO much better.” Boy that was irritating.

@@darinherrick9224 It's like BGGs rankings. It all heavier games because it's mostly hardcore gamers that actually go in and rank. And if everyone ranked they would just spam the games they didn't want with low rankings.

I ran into Wendy and Roy at the airport as they headed out to GenCon 2023, and just wanted to say hello really quickly as I figured it could get old having people bug you if you weren't working (like at a con). The reality was that they were very kind, friendly, down to earth people who were welcoming and ready to hang. Jason was already sitting on the plane in first class 😂

Hadrian’s Wall is not a roll and write. It’s a board game that uses paper and pen to track your progress. It really has non of the usual elements of a roll and write, it just uses the same components as them.

Love all the lists. A few games are very high up on my list too, like War of the Ring: TCG, Dune Imperium Uprising, Heroes of Air, Land, and Sea, TI4, and Star Wars Rebellion

I've tried to look into Dune...but I really really like Rex and that's what I cut my teeth on. It's beautiful, component quality is high and it's the one that I kept...but I love it!

Roy has 3 games moved out of his top 10 and hit this 11-20 list including Dune, TI4, and Heroes of land air and sea which gives space for new games. I'm guessing Dune War for Arrakis is a new one for his top 10... what else do you think he added? Marvel Zombies? Cthulhu Death may Die?

I think Roy and I are near game soulbros but I also really like Wendy's lightweight picks!

Next year, we would like to see the complete list of your favorite games, even if you participated in their creation. I'm talking to you Gaming Machine!!!!!! :) For example, we would like to know in what position Roy puts his game Last Light.

I think the only game that Jason found just "nice" of all these top 100s was Cascadia a few lists back 😅

Thank you for the picks! Yeah to WOTR. I have the EPIC board game and painted it so I lean to that version but I hear the card game is shorter and might get to the table more. Yeah to ThunderRoad. Thematic Mad Max. Yeah to Earth. Plants & compost. Yeah to RoboRally, programming. Yeah to Dune, every version. Yeah to the Ark Nova's sliding-scale action. I would try Revive, or Heroes of Land Air & Sea, or Aquatica, or Twilight Imperium IV

I can't get over the hilarious fact that the theme of "Great Western Trail" is essentially bringing cows to the slaughterhouse.

I want to applaude Wendy for having Sushi Go Party so high, with Sushi Go Party you can make a very simple gateway menu or a very take that spicy one for pure chaos 🙌 And props to Jason and Roy for naming SWR one of my top 10 games... I still remember capturing Leia with Bobba Fett and my wife rescuing her with Chewie only to see me blow up Kashyyyk with my Deathstar as retaliation while saying "Now witness the firepower of this fully Armed and Operational Battle Station" such an amazing game😎

Star Wars Rebellion puts you into the Star Wars world, unless you are playing as the Rebellion. Because you can’t actually win as the Rebellion. All you can do is play a war of hide and seek and attrition until the game just ends. You can’t destroy the Empire, you just hold on until the number of turns required to win.

I love Jason's comments on all games

War of the Ring: The Card Game is flawed, but it's probably my 3rd favourite game of all time. I like Roy's list, but man that list is hard to get to the table. That's my issue with the Star Wars: Rebellion, War of the Ring, War for Arrakis unofficial trilogy he was talking about. I don't know enough people that want to play different 3-4 hour 1v1 games with me.

I got the public library to buy War of the Ring Card game. I expected to love it and I did not. The turn order for factions is incredibly convoluted as are the rest of the instructions.

Tybor The Builder at #17 from Wendy 🦄 doesn’t get enough love. I recommend it whenever someone wants a drafting games that isn’t 7 Wonders or Sushi Go! And no-one can get it. Needs a reprint. And then Istanbul at #13.

I know Roy used to be so approachable but know that he is a designer, I dont know any more.... ;) Any BSG gaming happening at GenCon its been a while ;) I gotta look into that.

Is anyone else shocked by the amount of ads?? Very disruptive compared to what we usually get. I understand they are likely a financial necessity but sheesh.

They just need to release a Blood Rage expansion already! Idk what Lang is waiting for. It would instantly sell nearly as many copies as the base game did because everyone loves it and has been wanting more for years. Come get your free money Eric. A few more cards and monsters and you’ve got 1000s of happy gamers :)

I once won a game of nemesis while playing captain sonar. So dunes not the only one.

I appreciate that Jason doesn't put (many) games he's involved with on the list. That's a different kind of list.

It’s nice to see games rated this high that aren’t 4 hour heavy euros. And yes, Rex IS the best Dune game. It’s also the most beautiful game ever made. Dune Imperium is overrated. I own it. It’s good. But it’s not THAT good. And the best Dune game without the license... is IMPERIUS.

Great western trail 2nd edition is a much better game than 1st edition in just about every way. I mean c'mon the 1st edition was shipping cows from New York out to Kansas City! Lunacy.

Tried Istanbul. It’s just too boring for me. Five Tribes is a much more enjoyable game.

And...ouch. Aquatics again. One of my most hated games of all time. Play Abyss instead.

Somebody forgot to click the no ads button again. An ad after every set of games is so obnoxious I had to stop watching.

We try different things and we understand that they're not for everyone, but so many people have enjoyed watching these and participating in them. We've loved seeing great people who are excited to share in the experience. No need to insult those who took time out of their own days to make these charming, heart warming, and sometimes hilarious videos.

I think it's important to provide constructive feedback, but it's is rarely taken to heart when you insult people at the same time. Heck, usually people get upset if you share your feelings on a respectful way.

Where am I insulting? I am just saying that it isn't funny really. Even Wendy, Jason and Roy have an awkward expression and feel like "what do we do, do we laugh?". I feel uncomfortable for them. I get the idea and the intention, but it just falls flat.
