Well, it turns out that people really like to live where the weather is warm, and people really like to live near the water, stroll on the beach, swim in the ocean, and be where the action is. Yes, there’s a risk of hurricane, but most places are insured, and there’s usually a couple of days of advanced warning to get out of the way. So you might lose a few things. Or, there might not be another big storm for 25 years or more. That’s why people chose to live there. They don’t have to worry about earthquakes, or blizzards, or wildfires, or volcanic eruptions. Plus, they can wear shorts and flip flops all year long.

We are two years almost to the week out from a direct hit Cat 4 named Laura and a Cat 3 named Delta in SW Louisiana. We lost almost everything. We are not rebuilt yet. Good luck in Florida, building material prices are in the stratosphere and still not readily available, not to mention the lack of skilled workers, and plenty of shyster contractors that will try to take advantage of you, along with wrestling with the Insurance companies. Good luck and God Bless.

I assure you he's the most honest worker you'd ever find but he was taken advantage of by some of those shysters too. So it's not just you victims being victimized. Now he's headed south to do it all over again (thankfully he lives in the FL Panhandle so he's not that far from home) and just praying he doesn't get taken advantage of, he's too kind hearted and deeply hoping to help folks!! Prayers with y'all as well as FL and my friend!!

Umm. They’re reporting from Fort Meyers Beach. Check the Zillow listings. There’s nothing on the whole island for less than $600k, and most of the property is $1million or more. Yes, they probably found the one trailer park still in existence for maximum emotional effect, but this storm hit rich and poor alike, and the beachfront mostly belongs to the wealthy. Of course, no matter what happens, the poor will suffer the most. They always do. So try your best not to be poor. And help your neighbor if you can.
