Fort Knox Gold | Kentucky Life | KET

The iconic James Bond movie Goldfinger included scenes of gold stored in Fort Knox's United States Bullion Depository. Although the movie crew did shoot in the area, they didn't gain access to the actual depository, which remains super secret and protected with ultra-high security.
Why does the United States have a gold vault? During the Great Depression, President Franklin Roosevelt ordered gold out of circulation, and private citizens had to sell their gold to the U.S. government. A new depository was needed-preferably away East Coast cities thought to be vulnerable to attack.
The Fort Knox depository opened in 1937. Besides gold, the depository has also stored priceless documents like the Declaration of Independence and even the Magna Carta. Not all of the U.S. gold is stored here; gold is also stored at the mints in Philadelphia and Denver, at the West Point Bullion Depository, and at the San Francisco Assay Office.
The two-story building here is constructed of granite, steel, and concrete. The vault inside is made of steel and encased in concrete; the door to the vault weighs more than 20 tons.
Fort Knox historian Paul Urbahns and former vault employee Doug Simmons share captivating inside stories about the depository's history and significance.

Precious metals offer intrinsic value, stability during economic uncertainty, and diversification benefits, no doubt, but why choose that when the economy is riding on new corporate growths and breakthroughs? I wouldn't be putting capital to buy silver and gold if my stock portfolio can give me a 40% ROI.

+Zippy B Exactly that's why I believe its no gold left at Fort Knox,Its funny to me other countries show they gold and you let you know they have it but not the United States, you mention gold they always wanna be secretive about it and that gives me reasons why it's none there, look at all the stuff they have to protect Fort Knox and even if somebody wanted to to take it you would need a whole army to take the gold so to me its nothing there, they are protecting the myth that gold is there.

The gold was stolen by a small group of the wealthiest people who are doing everything in their power to destroy the planet (the planet is in debt to these psychos to the tune of 70 trillion - and they produce nothing of economic significance). These would be the same men who blew the markets up in 08/09 and charged their crimes (derivative, usury etc) to the American people (part of the illegal 20 trillion debt - which can't be paid back). Also the same people who have illegally blown up 8 countries in the middle east since 2001, killed millions of people in a War on Terror that has cost Americans about 6 trillion (part of 20 trillion debt) most of which has been transferred to elite bankers (who finance the war) and those who own the military industrial complex. Does that help.

slightly east of the gold vault are what used to be numerous long brown warehouse buildings. now, looking on google earth there appears to be just a brownish field. they must have demolished them. i one day for the army loaded furniture from a box truck into them. some other privates and i ate spice cake that was just sitting in a small break room and we watched the movie under seige after we were done in them. we stood outside and looked at the vault. bout as close i ever got to it. its a glorious looking building, very grey and imposing. very cuboidal looking from a distance.

There is gold at Fort Knox . But they count on peoples attitude's to be, well like the comments i see here below ( Pokemon) .... In the 1980's president Reagan put together a commission called " The Gold Commission " He wanted to see if we could go back to the gold standard .. Well the commission came back and told him that "the United States of America did not own the gold in Fort Knox"or any large sum for that matter.... WHAT ? REALLY ?.... It belonged to the Federal Reserve and the world bankers .. See it is collateral for all the interest that the USA government owes the federal reserve and the world bankers .. Congress should all be charged with treason for one, allowing the world bankers to set up here in the first place and two, where in the Constitution does it say that the government can borrow money ?.... And not to mention that Federal income tax is NOT LEGAL . It was never ratified by 3/4 of Congress ...... I could go on and on but no one cares .... I am far from being a smart man, but all we have to do is stop watching our smart phones and go to the library of congress .... it is all there .... Man i was rambling

I live 45min from Knox and I simply feel if there was good there, why did build I highway right beside it? "Here buddy I'll roll out the red carpet for ya." Again. Moving it wouldn't be easy but why build a highway right beside it.... It's probably got emptied after Nixon removed the gold standard

Raiding the gold depository at Fort Knox= Laughable at best, suicide mission at worst. Assuming that everyone at Fort Knox doesn't kill you first.

Bigest problem is usa gov nver alowed to investigated the gold after it went inside. Even now. You ask why well they say it might be what usa gold is not very good quality. Indeed when you have ring where is smalll marking with carats. If its 999 its pure gold, but mostly gold is not pure it is mixed with silver or bronze to make it stronger. Means if its low carat it will be big and heavy peace of gold. They are afraid what somebody will got to know what gold in voults are so low quality. whats why they dont let people inside voult

do not be worried about the gold, asking if there is something left or not, if the US sells all the gold they supouse the have like 287.5 million ounzes all the money will cover only like one month of US federal spending, yes that big is the spending of the US goverment

i'm american, can you please stop claiming that our gold bars are from marcos.how do we get those gold bars?very simple, usa became independent in 1776,you philippines became independent after ww2 and we obviously have an advantage of 200 years to develop, during the industrial revolution, our economy boom surpassing qinq dynasty and british empire (incl. british raj/india).and i will say this to you,the united states is rich in gold because we defeated mexico and get what is known to be california, and the west coast is rich in stone, iron, gold, and other mineral deposits.you guys can't just say we own those gold bars because basically AMERICAN MINERS mined it, FOR HUNDRED OF YEARS,and it's mined IN OUR TERRITORY (the west coast).and remember this, the number of natural resources that a country can possess depends on it's LAND SIZE,so even i'm american,'im gonna admit Russia is the richest in the world in terms of Natural resources, in one report, 20% of world natural resources can be found in Russia,Putin can't utilize it's blessings from land because of sanctions.now, how about the Philippines?it's impossible for you to have the amounts of gold that we have, the only material you are rich in is NICKEL AND COPPER nothing else plus your country is small.
