FORT CASSO, the MOST EPIC FORT of the MAGINOT LINE
Ойын-сауық
IF YOU TRULY WANT TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE MAGINOT LINE FORTS OPERATED AND FUNCTIONED, THIS IS A MUST SEE. FORT CASSO WAS ONE OF THE LAST FORTS BUILT IN 1938, SECOND GENERATION AND IT HAVE BEEN RESTORED NEARLY COMPLETELY.
WE TAKE THE TOUR OF ALL THE DETAILS AND HISTORY, THE EVENTS AND WHAT MADE THE MAGINOT LINE FORTS TRULY AMAZING.
BUILT WITH 6000 m3 of CONCRETE, 500 TONS OF STEEL, THE FORT WAS THE GUARDIAN OF THE ROHRBACH PLATEAU, IT CONSISTS OF 3 FIGHTING FORTS AND A HUGE UNDERGROUND TUNNEL SYSTEM, IT WAS A SMALL TOWN UNDERGROUND NOT ONE OF THE LARGEST FORTS BUT CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST PRESERVED AN INCREDIBLE TOUR.

Couldn't agree more!
Magnificent effort by the restoration/preservation team. Living history for future generations.
I have always known that the French were great engineers, this was after witnessing the Paris metro, specially the underwater sections that are under the Seine river! I forgot which station it was, but it looked Nemo's submarine from the Jules Vernes adventures! I am talking about the metal rooms with all the bolts on them! Very impressive indeed! So I am not surprised one bit when I hear how intricate these fortifications were, from what I know some even has railroad subway stations to bring in materials and soldiers from under the ground!
I'm so impressed by these fortifications and by the restoration done. Bravo! I admit, my study of history has had the basic message that the Maginot line failed. While it didn't necessarily do what I needed to do it was still impressive.
What a fantastic video, thank you. Best video I have seen on the Maginot line. The museum tour guide was excellent. Would love to visit one day. My father fought with the BEF and won the Military Medal fighting to defend the Ypres - Comines canal from the advancing Germans on the 27 May 1940. He was badly wounded in the fighting but managed to get back to Dunkirk to get evacuated. Keep the great content coming.
What a lovely chap!
I've seen all the old prewar films of the Maginot line , but this is so much better, and with a very knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide to boot.

I agree I love this guy
Looks like the Maginot line and Fort Casso are now at the top of my holiday list.
So, the Maginot line actually worked as intended, because the Germans attacked somewhere else. If the allied had placed most of their armor along the Belgian and Dutch borders in mobile panzer divisions with air support, then WW2 would just have been a minor regional conflict barely mentioned in the history books. Numerical advantage is only an advantage if used properly. The germans showed us that modern mobile warfare tactics would win against poorly organised troops regardless of being outnumbered by 3 to 1.
Much appreciated Tino, keeping us entertained with another enthralling episode.During lock down i ,m getting a bunker mentality!!

I never meet a person who knew the history of a fort in that detail, I was so busy trying to keep up filming it took me a moment to get it when he said. "Demonstration"...
Being a soldier stationed there would have been like being a submariner. The good part would be not drowning, getting to see butterflies, and feel the warmth of the Sun every now and then. I loved this video.
Thank you, Tino, this was the best visual tour That I have ever seen anyone post on youtube ever of the MAGINOT LINE it was so worth watching. Thank you once again.

Fascinating! I learned quite a lot with this video tour. Thank you.
I'd heard of the Maginot Line before of course, but today I stumbled upon a cross-section diagram of a fort just like this and literally didn't believe it. I figured it would end up like many other flashy WWII-era concepts that never ended up being used, so I had to see for myself if they were actually built and as large as depicted. My doubts have been firmly laid to rest. This is one of those videos where after I noticed the runtime, I thought "there's no way I'm going to sit through all this," and yet here I am at the end of the video. Fantastic tour!

@@tinostruckmann cannot wait for my fix of your newest videos to appear online. Your dedicated in every way with history, that’s so important to document it like you do. Before it’s gone forever. Just wish these places were all preserved for all future generations to see. Tino you need someone to bring a ROV for water to access the flooded tunnels under ground in the likes of Peenemünde. Is it something worth asking help with. That way you will see what it is someone is trying to hide there? The structures aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
That extra cable in the wall in case of repair is incredibly ingenious, and it's such a simple consideration honestly.

Unique presentation, EXCELLENT as usual. Your French guide well technically informed about all the components. Now compare this French guide with the Germans, both high standard of knowledge about their subject, the Poles forget them.
