The UN Climate Change Conference (COP 26) in Glasgow, United Kingdom is a crucial opportunity to achieve pivotal, transformational change in global climate policy and action. It is a credibility test for global efforts to address climate change and it is where Parties must make considerable progress to reach consensus on issues they have been discussing for several years. COP 26 comes against the background of widespread, rapid and intensifying climate change impacts, which are already impacting every region on Earth. Also, COP 26 comes against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the urgent need to build back better for present future generations to ensure a safe future.
The UNFCCC secretariat (UN Climate Change) is the United Nations entity tasked with supporting the global response to the threat of climate change. UNFCCC stands for United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Convention has near universal membership (197 Parties) and is the parent treaty of the 2015 Paris Agreement. The main aim of the Paris Agreement is to keep the global average temperature rise this century as close as possible to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The UNFCCC is also the parent treaty of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. The ultimate objective of all three agreements under the UNFCCC is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system, in a time frame which allows ecosystems to adapt naturally and enables sustainable development.

    If you still don't understand that this sort of "thing", gathering, etc... are a big large part of the whole problem (and It's not only pollution), not much else can be said.

  • @sykens587

    @sykens587

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think that's a very one-dimensional view. Gatherings like this are not affecting the climate much at all. The next day just as many planes would fly into the sky, just as much food would be produced in the world. If you believe a 2 week gathering would have a high impact on the lasting future then you're very mistaken. the atmosphere is HUGE. to make an impact you would need to pollute consistently, over the whole world, over many years. as we have done for the past 200 years. THAT is the problem. And if a meeting like this can do something about it, long term and globally. then it is more more more than worth those bits carbon emissions that were sent into the air over the course of COP26.

    The magnitude of what will be needed to stop global warming is well understood. That's why Obama emphasized "It's going to be hard." Oil is the very basis of civilization, it runs everything. On the other hand, a future where the sun is the basis of civilization is very appealing and exciting. I won't be around for it, but I think it's cool. I envy the future.

    When do you recon beach front property prices start dropping and European space agency starts moving inland into French Guyana to avoid rising oceans and sharks? They seem to be expanding their facilities right by the ocean. Very unwisely, I might add for Arian VI. Do you foresee UN headquarters moving to Kansas from New York? This is a civilization threatening crisis. The UN should move inland to Montana or Nebraska if not Kansas. Obama has put his beach front Martha’s Vineyard mansion on the market at a huge discount.

And by him shall My will and judgment against your nation be fulfilled, for all its forsaking of Me and My Israel. And so I have brought from among your enemy even one from Ishmael, to rule over you for a time and a season, foreordained, until that foretold is accomplished and the king of fierce countenance rules. Then by that deception conceived of by your enemy and this transgressor, him being full of lofty and elevated words, lies and dark speeches sold as hope, will it return against him ten-fold of the same, by him called Perdition. Yet remember this: Nothing exists outside of Me, says The Lord; neither does anything continue outside My will. For even the evil of this present world is set within the confines of My will. For evil acts and brings forth of its own, yet is unaware that nothing is hidden before Me; neither has anything come to pass, nor will be, that I have not already beheld. And this, O arrogant and deceived generation, is why I said, “All was written and completed, even before the foundation of the world.” For I am God, THE GOD!... The God of Abraham, The God of Isaac, The God of Jacob, The God of all!... Even of all that is known and unknown, The Creator of all things...
