As an Ipswich fan, if you’ve had as dark a spell as we have, anything in the prem is a good feeling. It’s not about win win win at this point, it’s about forward momentum - that doesn’t have to be winning the whole thing, it can just be adding new blood to the league and starting a new chapter.

Well done Ipswich from an Everton fan I loved our games against Ipswich. They were always competitive and fairly played. I'm keenly following how broadhead is doing for you. I really wanted it to work out for him at Everton. So I'm so pleased for him how well he's doing.

Congrats, Reading fan hear so I hope we go through the same thing in the not to distant future. The thing that I love about you reaching the prem, Is your a club who deserves to be in there. What I meen is that you'r a big football club that two three times a decade should be in the Prem. The fact that Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Luton are in the prem some people love, and I dont mind luton cuz there going back down. But bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford are taking up these prem spots for years and years on end. In my view, you have your two three year stay, have a push for europe fans love it, and then you bow out and let another team take your place. Bournemouth in particular fustrate me because they never push for europe, always languish between 16th and 12th and ultimatly don't exite anyone. It fustartes me because as a Reading fan because its like roles reversed, we are a big club in league one, and there tinpot in the prem, which is fine if as i say, there stay lasts a couple of years excites the fans and then there back to league one/two but now there just dull as ditch water premier league regulars wich makes my blood boil. What do you think?

@@Footy13s I can see where you’re coming from for sure 👌 I think there’s something to be said for the pure joy of being in the prem, I think forward momentum is a key thing here. If Ipswich were to last 5 years in the Prem and really shake the ground then I’d be happy but also the money that being in the top flight brings is so important to a regional market town like ours. Football is in many ways the last bastion of pride in what has gone from an otherwise proud working county town, to being essentially a commuters spot to lay their head whilst working in London during the days. I work at the home fan bar and seeing that place go from struggling to keep the lights on to booming over the last 3 years has been nothing short of miraculous, as such I would say that being in the prem full stop is my primary want for ITFC. I just want my town to get better and stronger and for the dark clouds that have been over it to roll away at last - and the club absolutely represents that and can do that and has already done that for us. Seeing the victory bus go past the church where I was baptised, past the school where I learnt my abcs - I am proud, perhaps for the first time in my life, to say I’m a Suffolk man born and bred and that my place of birth and hometown is little old Ipswich. Today is a good day to be from the towun. That’s my thoughts.

Fulham and Bournemouth were fairly comfortable in their first season up a couple of seasons ago. Ipswich can do that.
Please be advised that Ipswich Town are more than capable of just simply "Aiming for Survival.". A respectable mid-table position would be a great achievement and/or a target to aim for.
To me the ‘real test’ has already been overcome it’s an amazing achievement what they’ve done over the last two seasons and the majority of people wrote them off. Let them enjoy it! It’s moments like this that their fans will never forget. They will look forward to every single game in the Premier League regardless of results or aims or anything like that.
My mothers family have been from Ipswich as far back as I can go. I always get abit giddy listening to how well the trak’r bois are doing
It'll be tough for em, but if they keep their ideals about them, they have more than a chance. Sheff threw away their two main players, Burnley flipped their gameplan, and it hasn't worked out. Luton made smart signings, and stuck to their guns, and can STILL stay up if it goes their way. Doesn't matter how much you spend, it's more how you play it. Be smart, and be sensible.
I agree with Darren staying up has to be the aim and then we build
I’m a Ipswich fan and we know how crazy it’s going to be 17th would be massive and can build on it

4th from bottom is a success
We don't have to try to survive just the first season but the first few ones too. Just like how we fared the last time we were in the Premier League over 20 years back, promoted clubs get relegated straightaway the following season or maybe do reasonably well the first season but get relegated in the second season of being in the Premier League. Our primary aim now should be to be just like clubs like Brighton, Fulham, Brentford etc in surviving fairly comfortably season after season in the Premier League whilst we slowly build a good P.L. quality squad.

I assure you if we had ownership, ceo, and manager who thought like this we wouldn’t have accomplished back to back promotions. They believe from the top down in what they are doing. 98&96 points after moving up. The EPL will be caught off guard trust me

@@christophercorbett5074 - No, I think the whole "Ipswich are back in Europe, UEFA cup, 1981 etc" got a bit too romanticising for everyone, fans and players alike and took the focus off the main priority. We were victims of our own success, if we'd have finished mid table that first season I think we could have established ourselves as a mainstay premier League side for many years and then pushed on for European football.
Absolutely fine with staying up if we manage to finish 17th or higher. Why the hell would we expect to finish 'top half'? Stop being so utterly ridiculous with expectations!
Go on Benty 💙
The thing is, just like it's difficult to play for a draw, it's difficult to play to stay up. The goal doesn't change at all. We set ourselves up every match to get 3 points. We didn't set a target to hit a certain league position this season. It will be interesting to see how McKenna sets us up. Last season we were dominating possession and overpowering teams. This season we gave up a bit of possession and were more clinical and considered with possession. Next season we might have to set up to be more counterattacking.
8.00. Ipswich had a couple of spells where they were not winning games, and losing a few. but still picking up points through getting draws unlike Leicester, Leeds and Southampton.
@AchtungBaby77
Ай бұрын
Dare I say they drew quite a few games they shouldn't have. They could do with tightening up their back line a bit. If they sign a couple good defenders in the summer, I see no reason why they wouldn't be competitive in the Premier league.
It's not how much you spend - it's who you recruit, McKenna's got a great eye for a player that fits with what he needs - it's not all about trying to buy ballers.
I honestly am amazed at how clueless Andy Goldstein is. Is it just because he's a glory hunting Manchester United fan that doesn't understand what it is like to support a side that has highs and lows? "They should look at the top half" I can 100% say as a Nottingham Forest fan when we went up last season all I was hoping for from our first season back up was 17th. I was looking through the teams in the Premier League and struggling to name 3 we'd finish above. That's what Ipswich fans will be thinking right now.

It will be tough but I wouldn’t take 17th now. Yes survival is the objective but I’d rather roll the dice for 20th-15th and let’s do it our way. Let’s just have some fun. We can make this work and get the players in to improve us just enough. COYB 💙🎉
Hopefully Ipswich will stay up next season. Brentford and Forest are gone in 2025 though.
Best advice today from Talksport
It's not how big the dog is in the fight, it's how big the fight is in the dog.
Strange that on the one hand people say the Championship is the hardest league to get out of and of a very high standard and on the next Premiership club fans are completely Contemptuous of it!

Hate that mentality it’s so NEGATIVE!!! What everybody should be saying to them is aim for the very top, if you ain’t going out every week with the ambition of winning the title why bother, you’ve got 11 players the same as anybody else, as one of the comments says its not about how much you spend its about getting the right players in who have that winning mentality.

I agree I hate this negative mentality but going from staying up to winning the league is one extreme to the other. In my opinion there are 5 levels of ambition 1) Title contenders/ CL, 2)European place 3) lower top half 4) comfortable lower mid table 5) just stay up Everyone forgets the teams 11th-14th or 15th like a Palace, there's a middle ground between just stay up and top half.
