12 years ago I said exactly the same thing about Hillsong in the UK 🇬🇧 and I told my leaders (at the time) that God will expose evil in this ministry sooner or later. I look now at what is going on in this false ministry and I thank God for blessing me with the spirit of discernment. Staff from Hillsong treated me like I was a demon trying to discourage ppl and manipulate them to leave their ministry because I was always the one paying attention and pointing out their contradictions against the Bible, taking scriptures out of context to fit their own agenda. The connect groups I attended was so humiliating to me, they would shame you if you don’t tithe to the church or the connect group. I was a college student at the time, I didn’t always have money with me. It was a horrible experience there But I blamed myself as well for staying all these years in this false church because at the time I was feeling lonely, all my “friends” were in this church. I stayed 3 years at Hillsong for the wrong reasons. But I’ve learned my lesson. For those Ppl out there who have been brainwashed and are still supporting Hillsong listen up, you’re not a victim, you’re going into the same direction this organisation is going, to Destruction. Open your eyes!

I can relate and agreed to what you said. I used be part of Hillsong U.K. for 5 years and I saw a lot of red flags on that church. The problem about people who are on Mega Churches or even small churches is they have no Discernment. People go there for wrong reasons instead of seeking Christ. They claim to be christians and loved God but they are friend with the world (James 4:4) in other words they are lukewarm christians (Revelation 3:16) The worst part is there are so many False Teachers out there and Hillsong is one of them! They perverted the Gospel. And most importantly you never hear Hillsong preach about Sin, Hell, Repentance and true Discipleship of God. All you hear is lovely dovey feel good message to tickle your ears. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

We can’t always avoid evil and deception from the ppl of this world but discernment can definitely help us determine whether the presence of God is present in a ministry or in a person! 1 John 4:1 I can smell deception from a distance, that’s why I have very few friends (I can count them only in one ✋🏽) Yes I agree ppl go to these mega churches for the wrong reasons (I was one of them because I was not fully matured and obedient to God). God sometimes bless us with discernment but many of us like to ignore this gift because of the distractions of this world! But I’ve grown so much and learned my lesson. My experience at Hillsong made me realise that true children of God can’t serve two masters “GOD & MONEY” for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Honestly, out of all the Hillsong pastors in the US, only two called for more oversight and eventually left Hillsong. Atlanta is now Story Church (Sam is still the pastor), while the Phoenix campuses reverted to their pre-Hillsong name

Our church Hillsong Phoenix did the same thing. So glad we left Hillsong and are back to being our original City of Grace.

Sam Collier is a good dude. I tell you that he is different. That’s the criteria for a pastor-to first be a good dude. Then on the other things on top of that is icing on the cake.

People don't go to church for a "safe space." People go to church because they are broken and need a savior. People go to church to worship God. That is the basis of all the issues of these megachurches. They've forgotten what their job is as a church: teaching believers to repent, turn from sin, and worship God. It is time to throw away the "night club" atmosphere of church and get back down to business.

Hillsong does not see it self as a night club and isn’t a night club I go there during night service, yes it may have people jumping to praise songs but each song is to worship Jesus.

I am glad the church has the courage to do this. I pray it will encourage them not to be drawn into the fad stuff like these entertainment churches. I pray their discernment will grow.

Go to show regardless of what position you hold as a Christian, everyone is representing Jesus Christ to the world, we all fall short of the glory of God. We have a merciful loving God who exposes his children mistakes, giving them a chance to repent before it's too late..

The root cause is not the leadership - it is the theology. Poor theology is a garden in which these sorts of controversies grow unabounded.

Seems like a sincere man with a humble spirit, Hillsong is finished, hopefully he can start anew with Jesus as the foundation - plenty of exceptional church leaders he can look to for guidance and support - Dr David Jeremiah, Ps Billy Crone, Amir Tsarfati, Jan Markell and the late Dr Chuck Missler, Chuck Smith, Dave Hunt and many others.

So he pretty much split the church? Taking members of Hillsong Atlanta to form his new church? I'd never imagine the day when this action would be lauded. Since you are called by God to be a pastor, demonstrate that calling by starting your own church without splitting members from another.

What are you talking about!? He did not spit anything he was a pastor up under that organization. His pastoring is not call by man #1 he is under a world wide leadership's in different cities or states etc. Nothing absolutely nothing he did wrong here. He stepped down because he knew it was rightful thing to do. He's right people would be in a defense with him there with what's going on. Him leaving and starting his own ministry was a blessing in disguise for him. Who ever follows from that church is on them.

If the church was not Hillsong, probably most of those person would not be there in the first place. He should insist that no one follows him, then he will be able to prove that he was really called by God if he is able to establish a congregation.

Right now Hillsong leadership all over the world have misconduct issues emerging from personal to the questionable operations of the church. Who want to be a pastor in that environment? Alot of churches or at least the ones that were closed during the lockdowns and that is all Hillsong churches my bro in law is a pastor at Hillsong NY they took money from the Government to stay locked down. The churches that locked down got richer and the churches that were open lost money but eventually the Supreme Court said churches could be open. So when they opened they lost money! We are to obey God not m man and when we do God provides! We don't need to take money from man! I don't get my notifications so I wont see any response just educating you to the Hillsong policy they all took the money from the government!

This pastor did the right thing because pastor lentz and pastor Houston ; they all denied what they had done; so ….I will do the same as he did

We need to always remember that one sows, another waters but it is God that makes us grow, people make mistakes but God doesn't, so when we see things being added to the scripture, then it is time to question and leave that congregation, when there is no biblical explanation given. Leaving a particular congregation does not mean leaving the church.

Yeah.. I don’t think they’re the only church w/ “actions” coming to the light. It’s church full of humans, humans do what we expect humans to at some point do.. they trip, they stumble, they fail. the only difference is this church has a HUGE spotlight.. and a bunch of peeps therefore, eager w/ microscopes. Church=broken people, broken people= unfortunate/ often weak actions. If you think of one of the reasons why P. Brian had to step down: he was taking anxiety medication.. it’s just another shade of the cube being shown. He was under a lot of pressure, stress= which led him to experience heavy anxiety. I can’t imagine the worlds pressure on Him.. to appease and be considered without blemish. But we won’t dare look at that.. we’re too righteous to ever render grace on that.

A church is to be MORE than just a "safe place" but a HOLY place of worship of a Holy God! We must beware of "pastor's" leaving God out of his mouth and not exalting the name of Jesus Christ.

God will complete it but you better come out of those doctrines of man and receive the doctrine of Christ Jesus of Nazareth

When Jesus wrote letters to the Churches in the book of revelations He first pointed out the good things that the Churches are doing and thereafter pointed things that He dislike. He encouraged those in the Church that are holding on to the faith to continue to endure until He comes back. He never said leave the Church. If this Pastor is one of those who are holding to the faith he needs to steer the sheep to the right direction. It seems that he has been working on starting his own church and now use this opportunity as an excuse. He's been working on this long time ago. I hope money is not what is motivating him because it is also going to be exposed.

Well he is just leading a congregation which is part of Jesus's church. Jesus owns the true church and we have congregations under that. If you go to a church that does not challenge, bring conviction ( by the word), preach on sin, holy living, hell and heaven, repentance and the need for salvation, or the bow to the politically correct, leave quickly, God's truth should trump everything verse by verse book by book, the whole counsel of God

I totally don't understand why a pastor will step down because a founder of his church had sin, it just shows that some branch pastors are not called by God. Abraham, Moses, Jacob, David and Isaiah all sinned against God and yet are still our fathers of faith today. I am not supporting sin, all I am saying is that its not a man that calls but God. And you must be answerable to him and not your pastors.

Do not build your church on lying bibles. The bible has been changed. Did God say? Come on, really? God said He preserved His word. Psalm 12:6-7. Most modern bibles do not. In other words they are not admitting that God has a standard, His inspired word. His word is quick (alive) and quickens (gives life). His word is eternal. Most of the modern bibles have at least one out and out lie. NKJB lies in Exodus 6:3. They began to call on the name of the Lord in Genesis 4:26. Others quote Jesus telling his brothers, i am not going to the feast. John 7:8. (Is he saying he is going to break the law of Moses?) He waits and then goes. Liar! BLASPHEMY . Jesus simply said, not going now, not yet. He waits and then goes. No problem, no lie. And blatantly they mock Jesus and unashamedly, constantly, with each change ask, Did God say? Did God say Mark 11:26? Absolutely. It is an essential part of our walk with God. A verse that makes us tremble was added????? Did God say? Acts 15:34? It shows God's divine providence. Silas was there when Paul needed him for a journey. Obviously Silas remained there. BRAZENLY, they change or remove a word that gives the believers true power! Matthew 12:31 and Mark 9:29! Some spiritual warfare needs prayer and fasting! Did God say eleven (11) times in the New Testament the word damnation, eternal burning? Yes. But not in theirs! Did God say? Did God give three witnesses to that truth? Mark 9:44, 46, 48. They however only have v48. The other two they ask, Did God say? This is important because we need to know the truth and those who preach Annialism, we cease to exist, are easily proven wrong with these verses. Jesus is God and Jesus is Man. Hebrews supports this with four verses, 3:3, 7:24, 8:3 and 10:12: "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sin for ever, sat down at rhe right hand of God; v10:12. They do not use the clarifying words 'this man' at all. Again, Did God say? Every change they make is an insult to God and His word. God said He would curse those who add to or take from His word. It is about Jesus not nasty human flesh that will die and go back to the dirt. Trust JESUS. Serve JESUS. Be Born Again for real or hell will be your Eternal Home.

Its a mess, he just wants to clean his hands but keep his cash flowing. If he's clean then fight the good battle God called us to be brave not cowards, plus the word holy, sanctification, integrity and repentance need to be mentioned in every service. Is seasons the only word people know this days. Jesus is coming soon no time to feel safe , you need to feel pure and ready to be saved

Church is not the pastor it is the people are devoted, compassionate and resilient. Church is more than a country to defend your very own soul. Without a church our spirit will have no citizenship we became churchless person.

Hillsong is a church where the Real Jesus and true salvation is not taught. Get away from these entertainment mega churches.

Yeshua Ben Pantera (Jesus son of Pantera) is not taught at Christian anything.

He is not the 1st black pastor in the global network. There are at least 2 or more that were before him that I know of. Anyway, why does it matter?

I'm amazed that people don't already realise there is sin in every church all of the time. What happened to repentance and forgiveness. Brian lost his way for sure but you can't throw the baby out with the bath water. There is sin in every church and that is why we all need Jesus. It's not just the none believers who need Jesus. Mister perfect here is jumping ship when he needs to be standing strong for his congregation. Oh my.

Repentance and confession was created as a thing called indulgences. You pay me for a card which absolved you if sin. Too bad if you don't worship money and can't afford one.

Now we know he's just another example of Pastors living double lives.

A safe place? Those are some tricky words in today's modern church. That can mean alot of things. Sounds like a setup for rushing over sin and iniquity to keep oneself safe. No the church should be place of deliverance and changing of the heart so the soul won't die and go to hell.

Let me guess? Sex and Money. Wow, what a surprise!

The Truth is I go to church for JESUS CHRIST our precious LORD and SAVIOUR who sacrificed Himself on the Cross for our sins. I go to Church to give Praise and Worship to JESUS. He is so worthy of Praise and Worship. Amen 🙏

Please dont judge a church by its size! Many christians feels proud when they belong to a big church with nice musicians (talented) on stage belting out nice beautiful songs on stage week after week and they think this must be a good church and God must be behind it (especially with the obvious success - based on human standards) and frown on those small church with a small congregation and substandard worship music played by substandard musicians which in their opinion are church not blessed by God. I do hear even from pastor of a big church (but not mega) who told me that a particular small church is struggling and not growing because its not blessed by God...We tend to equate "growing church" as God behind it while those "not growing church" as not. These false mega churches are growing in numbers so does that make them "true church"? Well we all know the answers from this Hillsongs news and there are many more out there who are still growing n kicking but we know their "fruits"... I prefer to stick to small church where fellowship and relationship are more authentic. I have experience both and I know the difference.

Power can corrupt. This church looks like big business

Is he using the same location for "his" own church? At whose cost if I may ask? I assume the venue isn't his personal property. Is he changing the name of the church because of the scandal associated with the founder? Is this betrayal or opportunism?

The fact that you have the label of being the first “black” anything in church leadership is a huge red flag to me.

For years I’ve been warning people about Hillsong, Bethel, and Elevation. Also, people need to stay away from any ARC churches. What people see on television these days is not Christianity, and what’s going on in these mega-churches is not church.
