That man has seen so much horror that he couldn’t even be read through his eyes. Very strange that it’s the man that was tortured as a boy, who is haunted by and experienced all that pain continues to feel. He keeps his emotions, his humanity. Ayik is an outstanding human being. He’s stronger than fear.

It is possible that he told truth when he mentioned he struggled with the memories when he slept , the other man ,too. God opened his eyes and heart , that was shut for probably so long in self protection to do what he did. I can't put myself in his shoes. Alone in Africa so young ,he saw that group of soldiers as only way and the victim who tried to escape 15 times , got tortured .. he probably would be too . I suspect it's so terrible, most of us can't put ourselves in their shoes and brain reaction. Worst would have been if no regret . I hope they can heal 🙏

@@lapis3834 100% he genuinely wanted forgiveness. He’s just seen a lot, and that’ll affect folks differently but they’re all gonna get some form of PTSD. They were all victims, some just victims of victims. Some folks can just seem emotionless, dead on the inside and some very may well be to an extent. They can still burn on the inside tho. That being said, Ayuk is still in tact. He’s the embodiment of what it’s like to be human. He wears his emotions on his sleeves, he obviously loves his boy with not just all his heart but it’s well within the marrow of his bones. No one would’ve blamed him had he not forgiven this man. But he did it anyways. I think universally no man that has a heart wants to see a woman or child cry, maybe it’s an evolutionary response…I haven’t a clue. But the man that hurt Aiyuk was visibly uncomfortable when Aiyuk starting crying and that’s genuinely what it’s like, anxiety/a want to fix. So when I saw him wipe Aiyuk’s tears and begged. That’s a man that needed relief, to be forgiven and couldn’t handle the thought of dealing out any more pain. Just an opinion though. I may be special but I’m no specialist... lol I hope they can finally sleep at night without any more stress, anxiety or nightmares as I hear sleep is God’s medicine.

That's hardly a good soul. It's no wonder he lost his feelings and was having a lot of trouble taking her back. My brother, you cannot speak for the entire Africa though. What is happening in Kenya may not be happening in a neighbouring country, talkless of the rest of the entire continent. This is why you cannot say that "this effort for reconciliation and forgiveness is not pursued vigorously here in Africa". I doubt that you even know every situation in Kenya. I will give you just two examples of reconciliation occurring in Africa after extreme injustices and human suffering, one is the reconciliation that took place after the Rwandan gen0cide and the other is the reconciliation council after Apartheid in South Africa. I know your comment was made in good faith, but please be guided, especially when you are on international platforms. There are extremely harmful stere0types about Africa and Africans worldwide that negatively impact the way the world deals with Africans. You will have a better appreciation of this when you travel the world as an African.

A modern African man's perspective. This was in a few words, a true healing session. The pain of men from very different backgrounds, Gary represents men who even in 2024 are left when they thought all was well. Tough decisions and tall walls are built and thankfully did not resort to the bottle. Kudos to Sue for the apology. Glad to see them back together working things out. As for the child soldiers, that was deep and raw. Anyang's sigh of relief when he was forgiven and the burst of tears when hugged. The rising of true manhood in Ayik, facing your fears and tormentor and forgiving him. The reconciliation was the icing on the cake. Awesome documentary.

At the end he showed remorse, it was just harder for him to tap into that emotion because of how traumatized he obviously was too, you could see he started crying when they hugged and he said sorry.

I was bullied relentlessly for 9 years. It was verbal, physical and emotional torture. Seeing him stand up to his abuser made me bawl like the little child I was. I wish I had this opportunity as well. I cannot move on because these people our out there living their lives, completely oblivious of the tremendous pain I have gone through.

That woman made a terrible mistake breaking up her marriage instead of seeking counseling or talking to her husband she just abruptly pulled the rug from under him. I think social media/magazines/talk shows have a lot to do with glorifying divorce and normalizing it. Many platforms with women on them always talk of divorce in an delusionally empowering way. But it's not easy to replace someone just like that, especially if you had no real issues like abuse or cheating. I hope as women we learn to communicate, and filter out the noise from the world. The husband is still really hurt, hopefully he can also heal from this. I hope Ayang also embarks on his own healing journey. You can see that Ayik has really put in the work. May they grow from strength to strength ❤

Yep. She probably got it in her mind she could run off and find some better man than her husband and have fun, Then she realized dating as a single woman in your 50s is not the same as dating as a woman in your 20s and you don't get your pick of the litter like you used to, so she came crawling back realizing he is the best she will ever be able to get. Modern feminism has truly poisoned the minds of women. I honestly don't know if the marriage will ever fully recover as he will never be able to trust her again knowing she just pulled the rug to run off and sleep with other men.

The men’s names are Ayik & Anyang. I didn’t see your observation, at all. I made my unbiased decisions on facts & not emotions. I took Anyang’s facial structure into account & the fact that he did have tears in his eyes. Afterwards, he was shaken. When they spoke, he hung his head & put his head in his hand. He reached out & repeatedly asked for forgiveness (as is their custom) in English & their Language. Ayik is expressive...heartfelt. Anyang is stoic. 2 different men. Two different coping mechanisms. Bother were CHILDREN thrust into a demonic regime. I saw forgiveness & healing for both men. I trust the Ayik’s observation.
