Forgotten Trailer Park: Home of West Memphis 3 Damien Echols

Ойын-сауық

Drive through footage of a partially abandoned unnamed trailer park in West Memphis, AR
Since originally posting the video it was brought to my attention on more than one occasion that the trailer at 1:35 and 6:35 was the home of Damien Echols of the West Memphis 3 at the time of his arrest. This is not presented as a course of debate, simply as a point of interest.

People arent living there because there too cheap or because they even like it there. The park is made up off people you’ve lost there jobs or got evicted from there original homes. As hard of shape as those homes are, they can’t move because of being financially unstable. And, it wouldn’t be fair for the city to condemn the place because that would create a lot of homeless people and a lot of people creating petitions and going to court to sue the city, I don’t agree with condemnation because they always evict people who are broke from there homes

Ty Michael Wentzell I see what you're saying but please keep in mind my comments about condemning the place were not a suggestion or a desire, just an observation. Condemning property is not about evicting people it's about ensuring public safety. Neighborhoods that become seriously run down with abandoned properties are a haven for criminal activity and vermin. My observation is simply that much of this area would fall into that category in most cities.

Yes, this is definitely Broadway Trailer Park in West Memphis where Damien Echols lived at 2706 S. Grove back in 1993 and where he was arrested for the triple child murder. I can clearly see the street signs "Grove", "Oak" and "Elm" in your video. Back in 2013 there was what was left of a sign for Broadway Trailer Park. images2.imgbox.com/37/2a/0OXkjjea_o.jpg That pic came from a video from 2013 where some curious people visited Damien's old neighborhood and trailer... kzread.info/dash/bejne/gGiYrNaSebzgps4.html (1:35 and 6:35 in your video) Thank you very much for a tour of what's left of the trailer park.

This shows a portion of the police report following Echols's arrest. It gives the address, as well as shows a picture of the trailer. The picture is a bit grainy, but it's the same sort of trailer. You also see the trees to the left and a bit of the trailer beyond them. Also, to the right you see the same electric pole at 1:37, though the trailer seen in the picture is not present in the video. Seems pretty convincing to me. thewm3revelations.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/de_exhibit_a.jpg

It isn't THAT hard to see why a city wouldn't prioritize demolishing a trailer park. They tend to be in more rural or out of the way locations on the outskirts of towns. Lack of money on somebody's part is how they get abandoned in the first place and then it costs even more to demo and haul, especially if foundations or septic tanks have to be dug up. I've seen quite a few abandoned trailer parks on KZread, kinda on a tear watching them now!

@@trvamedia while I appreciate the time you took to film and upload this, I want to comment on your response where you ask where you judged in the video. It kind of did have a bit of judgement feel to it, but perhaps that’s my own perceptions, but what felt objectively judgmental was the quip about the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre House” or something of the sort. You seem like a nice person and I’m not trying to be mean, only to say that I can see it from both sides-yours and the person you’re replying to, and I can see where there would be a perception of judgement from watching the video. I’ve never lived in a trailer park but did live in a well maintained trailer for a couple years when I was pre-school aged. I don’t have anything against them and there are some astonishingly beautiful ones out there. I hope you take my comment in the spirit in which it’s intended, which is just to answer your question about where in the video a person might feel you were being judgmental.
